Abstract

One-class classification (OCC) is a fundamental problem in machine learning with numerous applications, such as anomaly detection and quality control. With the increasing complexity and dimensionality of modern datasets, there is a growing demand for advanced OCC techniques with better expressivity and efficiency. We introduce Neural Quantum Support Vector Data Description (NQSVDD), a classical-quantum hybrid framework for OCC that performs end-to-end optimized hierarchical representation learning. NQSVDD integrates a classical neural network with trainable quantum data encoding and a variational quantum circuit, enabling the model to learn nonlinear feature transformations tailored to the OCC objective. The hybrid architecture maps input data into an intermediate high-dimensional feature space and subsequently projects it into a compact latent space defined through quantum measurements. Importantly, both the feature embedding and the latent representation are jointly optimized such that normal data form a compact cluster, for which a minimum-volume enclosing hypersphere provides an effective decision boundary. Experimental evaluations on benchmark datasets demonstrate that NQSVDD achieves competitive or superior AUC performance compared to classical Deep SVDD and quantum baselines, while maintaining parameter efficiency and robustness under realistic noise conditions.

Hybrid Variational Quantum-Classical Framework with Adaptive Weighting and Efficiency Assessment

Hybrid quantum-classical neural networks have emerged as a promising approach for leveraging quantum computing in machine learning while mitigating current hardware limitations. This paper presents Sim-HVQC, a hybrid Deep Quantum Neural Network that couples an adaptive, parameter-free SimAM weighting module with classical feature extraction to preserve class-discriminative information prior to encoding into a Variational Quantum Circuit (VQC). Previous studies are restricted to binary classification [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. In contrast, the proposed framework is trained and evaluated on various multi-class datasets(MNIST, KMNIST, Fashion-MNIST, and EMNIST). The framework further demonstrates reproducibility, parameter efficiency, and interpretability through multi-seed evaluation, parameter analysis, and latent/quantum feature inspection. Decomposing one-class support vector machine into an ensemble of one-data support vector machines

One-class classification (OCC) is a classification problem in which the training data contains only one class. The one-class support vector machine (OCSVM) is one of the most competitive OCC algorithms. However, OCSVM has scalability issues with large-scale datasets. This paper proposes the acceleration strategy of OCSVM. The idea is to decompose the dataset into samples and train OCSVM models for single data points. Subsequently, ensemble learning is applied to combine all models to compute the OCSVM model for the dataset. In addition, further acceleration is achieved through a data-reduction strategy with an OCSVM model trained on the average of the training samples. The experiment compared the proposal and traditional OCSVM using the Python package. The proposed strategy is faster than traditional OCSVM, while achieving similar classification results. Moreover, the proposed strategy can create one-to-one correspondence between samples and models. Source code is uploaded at https://github.com/ToshiHayashi/ODSVM

QeHDC: Hyperdimensional Computing based on Quantum-enhanced binding and SuperClass Construction

Hyperdimensional Computing (HDC) is a robust computational framework inspired by human cognition characterized by simple and efficient operations within high-dimensional vector spaces. Quantum-enhanced Hyperdimensional Computing (QeHDC) extends classical HDC by leveraging quantum mechanical properties to enhance computational efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel Quantum HDC framework featuring a one-pass training method, leveraging sinusoidal and quantum encoding to project classical data into quantum amplitude states efficiently. Our framework introduces an innovative reference-state-based quantum binding operation realized via quantum circuits. Furthermore, we propose a density-matrix-based superclass generation strategy employing eigenvalue decomposition to extract critical quantum state features effectively, enabling a more accurate and robust class representation. Experimental evaluations conducted on standard benchmark datasets demonstrate our approach's superior performance, robustness to noise, and computational feasibility compared to traditional classical and existing quantum-enhanced approaches. The results highlight the practical benefits and potential of Quantum HDC for quantum-enhanced classification tasks and pave the way for future advancements in quantum-inspired computational paradigms.
