Abstract

We present Hebatron, a Hebrew-specialized open-weight large language model built on the NVIDIA Nemotron-3 sparse Mixture-of-Experts architecture. Training employs a three-phase easy-to-hard curriculum with continuous anti-forgetting anchoring, followed by supervised fine-tuning on 2 million bilingual Hebrew--English samples. The curriculum ordering alone yields a 3-point aggregate benchmark gain over the reversed configuration. Hebatron achieves a Hebrew reasoning average of 73.8%, outperforming DictaLM-3.0-24B-Thinking (68.9%) and remaining competitive with Gemma-3-27B-IT on GSM8K-HE and Israeli Trivia, while activating only 3B parameters per forward pass across a 30B-parameter model, delivering approximately 9 times higher inference throughput at native context lengths up to 65,536 tokens. To our knowledge, this is the first language-specific adaptation of the Nemotron-3 architecture for any target language, and the first open-weight Hebrew-specialized MoE model with native long-context support. Model weights are released openly to support further research in Hebrew and Semitic-language NLP.

Marco-MoE: Open Multilingual Mixture-of-Expert Language Models with Efficient Upcycling

We present Marco-MoE, a suite of fully open multilingual sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models. Marco-MoE features a highly sparse design in which only around 5% of the total parameters are activated per input token. This extreme sparsity, combined with upcycling from dense models, enables efficient pre-training on 5T tokens. Our models surpass similarly-sized competitors on English and multilingual benchmarks, achieving a best-in-class performance-to-compute ratio. We further post-train these models to create Marco-MoE-\textsc{Instruct} variants, which surpass the performance of competing models possessing 33--14×14\times more activated parameters. Our analysis reveals that Marco-MoE learns structured expert activation patterns shared across related languages, while maintaining highly specialized utilization for linguistically isolated ones. We further show that Marco-MoE allows for scalable language expansion without the interference typical of dense models. To support the community, we disclose our full training datasets, recipes, and model weights.

Mixture of Experts for Low-Resource LLMs

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures enable efficient model scaling, yet expert routing behavior across underrepresented languages remains poorly understood. We analyze routing dynamics in two architecturally distinct MoE models -- a pure Transformer (Qwen3-30B-A3B) and a hybrid Mamba-Transformer (Nemotron-3-Nano-30B-A3B) -- using Hebrew as a morphologically rich, low-resource testbed. Both pre-trained models exhibit \emph{deep-layer routing collapse}: usage entropy drops sharply in final layers and tokens concentrate on a narrow expert subset, a pattern largely absent for English. Continual pre-training (CPT) on balanced bilingual data substantially corrects this imbalance, increasing entropy and shifting routing toward shared, language-agnostic experts; supervised fine-tuning (SFT) alone achieves less complete correction. Extending the analysis to Japanese reveals quantitatively consistent collapse signatures, providing cross-linguistic evidence that the phenomenon is a systematic consequence of pre-training underrepresentation rather than any language-intrinsic property. Routing improvements correlate with consistent downstream benchmark gains, positioning routing entropy and expert specialization as principled diagnostics for multilingual capacity in MoE systems.

Nemotron 3 Ultra: Open, Efficient Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Transformer Model for Agentic Reasoning

We introduce Nemotron 3 Ultra, a 550 billion total and 55 billion active parameter Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Attention language model. We pre-trained Nemotron 3 Ultra on 20 trillion text tokens, then extended the context length to 1M tokens, and post-trained using Supervised Fine Tuning (SFT), Reinforcement Learning (RL), and Multi-teacher On-Policy Distillation (MOPD). Nemotron 3 Ultra is our most capable model yet, employing multiple key technologies - LatentMoE, Multi Token Prediction (MTP), NVFP4 pre-training, multi-environment RLVR, MOPD, and reasoning budget control. Nemotron 3 Ultra achieves up to ~6x higher inference throughput as compared to state-of-the-art publicly available LLMs while attaining on-par accuracy. The state-of-the-art accuracy, high inference throughput, and 1M token context length make Nemotron 3 Ultra ideal for long-running autonomous agentic tasks. We open-source the base, post-trained, and quantized checkpoints, along with the training data and recipe on HuggingFace.
