Abstract

Visual and acoustic events in the physical world are inherently coupled, yet existing video editing methods typically adopt decoupled pipelines, lacking bidirectional modality interaction. This results in two key limitations: (i) audio-visual desynchronization and (ii) contextual conflicts between generated audio and preserved content. To address these, we propose SpongeBob, the first end-to-end audio-visual joint editing framework featuring bidirectional cross-modal interaction. For synchronization, a Sync-Aware Mechanism aligns visual edits with sound events via bidirectional attention, temporal alignment, and spatial constraints. For contextual consistency, a Context-Aware Module leverages acoustic and visual context attention to prevent semantic clashes. Additionally, we introduce Sync-Preserving Training and Guidance (SPTG) to enhance alignment without degrading quality. Due to the scarcity of paired data, we construct a scalable data pipeline and a large-scale subject-level dataset. We also propose SpongeBob-Bench for systematic evaluation. Experiments show SpongeBob significantly outperforms existing baselines, improving Sync-C by 30% and Ctx-F1 by 12.5%. Our project page is available at: https://hy-spongebob.github.io/.

Vorch-Omni: Multi-Task Orchestration of Sight and Sound

Recent advances in generative video modeling have enabled diverse generation, reference-based synthesis, extension, and editing, but existing approaches often rely on fragmented task-specific models. A general model must distinguish heterogeneous target, source, and reference signals to determine what to generate, preserve, or use as guidance, while reducing interference among tasks. Joint audio-visual generation further increases this challenge by introducing diverse conditioning and output configurations across modalities. We present Vorch-Omni, a unified multi-task framework for audio-visual synthesis based on an arbitrary-condition-to-arbitrary-output formulation. It flexibly treats video and audio signals as either conditioning inputs or generation targets. Token-level conditioning masks and task identifiers distinguish targets, source content, and references, while position types separate temporal context from independent conditions. To capture semantic and structural information, Vorch-Omni employs complementary visual conditioning pathways: a vision-language model interprets sampled frames with text instructions, and a video VAE encodes conditions into latent tokens for direct guidance. We further build a distributed data pipeline to curate diverse temporally aligned audio-visual clips, generate structured captions and metadata, and balance heterogeneous task distributions. Built on a single flow-matching diffusion transformer without task-specific architectural changes, Vorch-Omni supports over 10 tasks, including text-to-video, text-to-audio-video, image- and reference-conditioned generation, temporal extension, audio-driven generation, video transformation, and audio-visual editing. This unified framework provides a scalable foundation for general-purpose audio-visual generation and manipulation.

AVE-Compass: Towards Holistic Evaluation for Audio-Video Editing Abilities

While instruction-based video editing has advanced rapidly, real-world videos contain tightly coupled audio and visual signals, and editing one modality often requires coordinated changes in the other. Existing benchmarks primarily evaluate visual transformations on silent clips or isolated audio editing, leaving complex audio-visual editing and cross-modal consistency underexplored. We introduce AVE-Compass, a comprehensive benchmark with 145 curated source videos, 196 audio-visually coupled editing instructions, and 2,688 fine-grained checklist items. It evaluates Instruction Following, Fidelity Preserving, Realism, and Editing Intent through checklist-based MLLM judging and a dedicated realism rubric, complemented by automated cross-modal, video, and audio metrics. Extensive evaluation shows that state-of-the-art models still struggle to execute cross-modal instructions while preserving non-target content. We further propose AVE-Agent, a modular agent framework that decomposes complex instructions into dependent subtasks and iteratively improves editing results through self-reflection and evaluator feedback. AVE-Agent improves instruction execution, Fidelity Preserving, and audio-visual alignment in joint editing while maintaining competitive perceptual quality.

InstructAV2AV: Instruction-Guided Audio-Video Joint Editing

Recent diffusion-based methods have achieved impressive progress in video content manipulation. However, they typically ignore the accompanying audio, leaving the audio disjointed from the edited results. In this paper, we propose InstructAV2AV, the first end-to-end framework for instruction-guided audio-video joint editing. We first develop a scalable data synthesis pipeline and construct InsAVE-80K, the first large-scale audio-video editing dataset with high-quality source-to-target pairs. With this data foundation, we adapt an audio-video generation backbone to leverage its robust priors. We concatenate the audio-video input with noisy latent codes to anchor the source context, propose the source-instruction gated attention to improve instruction following and content preservation, and introduce a two-stage training strategy to effectively transfer these pre-trained priors. Extensive experiments demonstrate that InstructAV2AV outperforms state-of-the-art methods across 11 metrics spanning three aspects on two evaluation sets, highlighting its potential for controllable content creation.
