While Large Multimodal Models excel in comprehension, high-throughput inference engines lack native support for multimodal generation. This is severe in Speech Language Models, where generating multi-layered audio tokens via decoupled AR+NAR or synchronous Multi-Token Prediction (MTP) with delay-pattern interleaving conflicts with standard single-stream loops. We present a vLLM-based inference pipeline for unified speech understanding and generation. We extend autoregressive decoding to natively execute delay-pattern de-interleaving and coordinated multi-stream sampling, integrating an on-GPU acoustic decoder for end-to-end waveform synthesis. Crucially, we overcome the shared intuition that Classifier-Free Guidance (CFG) halves throughput. By co-scheduling paired conditional and unconditional requests within a continuous batch, our CFG implementation sustains 80% of non-CFG throughput, absorbing dual-request and logit merging overheads. We open-source our framework.
Audio intelligence involves understanding, reasoning about, and generating both audio and speech. In this work, we introduce Nemotron-Labs-Audex-30B-A3B (Audex), a unified audio-text LLM built on Nemotron-Cascade-2-30B-A3B, a strong text-only MoE LLM. Audex adopts a simple unified design with a single Transformer decoder: audio inputs are encoded and projected into the text embedding space, while text tokens and quantized audio output tokens are treated uniformly during generation. This architecture enables strong audio-text fusion, seamless multimodal generation, and compatibility with standard LLM training and inference infrastructure. For training, we meticulously curate audio-text datasets comprising 157.4B audio tokens and 320.5B text tokens. We apply multi-stage supervised training on these datasets, followed by text-only Cascade RL and multi-domain on-policy distillation. Audex delivers state-of-the-art audio understanding, speech recognition and translation, text-to-speech, audio generation, and speech-to-speech generation, while preserving very compelling reasoning, alignment, knowledge, long-context, and agentic capabilities of its text-only LLM backbone with marginal or no regression. We release the model checkpoints to facilitate open research.
Speech Large Language Models (Speech LLMs) lack a principled mechanism for streaming inference: their label-synchronous generation has no acoustic-frame alignment, making real-time decoding and end-of-utterance detection difficult. We propose TRADE TRansducer-Augmented DEcoder, which augments a multimodal LLM with a transducer branch that shares the audio encoder and uses the LLM's hidden states directly as the prediction network -- coupling frame-synchronous acoustic alignment with the LLM's linguistic reasoning. Three design choices make the system accurate, streamable, and long-form capable: (1)Tightly coupled dual vocabularies -- a compact transducer vocabulary derived from the LLM vocabulary, enabling zero-cost score fusion; (2)Chunk-synchronized streaming training with gradient stopping, eliminating the train-inference mismatch at offline-equivalent memory cost; and (3)Localized Decoder Audio Attention (LDAA), a causal sliding window that caps KV-cache memory independently of utterance length. A single TRADE checkpoint supports offline and streaming decoding across a continuous range of latency operating points. TRADE achieves 6.71% average WER on the Open ASR Leaderboard, while the streaming recognition with 960ms chunk size reaches 8.40% from the same checkpoint. On long-form speech, it obtains 3.64% WER on TED-LIUM and 10.88% on Earnings-22 without external segmentation. TRADE provides sentence-end punctuation timestamps that, when combined with acoustic voice activity detection (VAD), improve end-of-utterance detection by +0.03 F_1 over acoustic VAD alone.
Generating coherent audio scenes that simultaneously blend speech, music, and sound effects remains a significant challenge. Current approaches typically rely on a disjointed pipeline where a frozen, decoupled text encoder feeds a separate audio decoder, limiting cross-modal optimization and leading to poor speech intelligibility. To overcome these limitations, we introduce MiDashengLM-Gen, an end-to-end framework that couples a pre-trained Large Language Model (LLM) with per-token conditional flow matching for autoregressive, variable-length mixed-audio scene generation. MiDashengLM-Gen represents a first approach for general text-to-audio generation with one end-to-end trained model. Empirical evaluations demonstrate that MiDashengLM-Gen drastically improves speech intelligibility over existing unified models. On the Seed-TTS benchmark, English Word Error Rate (WER) drops from 12.15% to 2.79%, approaching the performance of dedicated Text-to-Speech (TTS) systems (1.24%). Furthermore, the framework extends effectively to multilingual settings, yielding highly competitive multilingual WERs compared to existing baselines. Lastly, the model maintains competitive mixed-audio generation quality on the MECAT benchmark.
