Abstract

Robust low-light imaging remains challenging for the community. Recent studies have explored fusing Near-Infrared (NIR) with noisy RGB to achieve improved enhancement, yet most methods depend on carefully curated training data pairs, with limited robustness under different scenarios. This paper offers a new perspective for RGB-NIR low-light imaging by incorporating 3D-aware neural modeling. Without using clean RGB supervision, a powerful model can be optimized to implicitly fuse extremely noisy RGB observations with NIR cues in 3D space, effectively recovering clean RGB images. The proposed model obviates the requirement for clean RGB data collection, generalizes across different noise levels. Extensive evaluations on synthetic and real data demonstrate its superiority. Frequency-Decomposed INR for NIR-Assisted Low-Light RGB Image Denoising

Addressing the issues of severe noise and high frequency structural degradation in visible images under low-light conditions, this paper proposes a Near Infrared (NIR) aided low light image restoration method based on Frequency Decoupled Implicit Neural Representation (FDINR). Based on the statistical prior of RGB-NIR cross-modal frequency correlations, specifically that low-frequency RGB signals are more reliable, whereas high frequency NIR signals exhibit higher correlation, we explicitly decompose images into distinct frequency components via multi-scale wavelet transforms and construct a dual-branch implicit neural representation framework. Within this framework, we design a cross modal differentiated frequency supervision mechanism, leveraging low light RGB to guide the reconstruction of low frequency luminance and color, and utilizing high-SNR NIR signals to constrain the generation of high frequency texture details, thereby achieving complementary advantages in the frequency domain. Furthermore, an uncertainty-based adaptive weighting loss function is introduced to automatically balance the contributions of different frequency tasks, solving the problems of color distortion and artifacts caused by rigid fusion in the spatial domain common in traditional methods. Experimental results demonstrate that FD-INR not only effectively restores image luminance consistency and structural details but also, benefitting from its implicit continuous representation, outperforms existing methods in arbitrary-resolution reconstruction tasks, significantly enhancing the reliability of low light perception.

DelowlightSplat: Feed-Forward Gaussian Splatting for Lowlight 3D Scene Reconstruction

Novel-view synthesis and 3D reconstruction from sparse posed images are central to robotics and AR/VR. Yet, feed-forward 3D Gaussian reconstruction fails under lowlight due to noise, color shifts, and unreliable correspondence. We propose DelowlightSplat, a lowlight-aware feed-forward Gaussian splatting framework for clean novel-view rendering. We build a controllable multi-view lowlight benchmark by degrading only context views while keeping target views clean. We introduce a lightweight Lowlight Adapter for residual enhancement to improve matchability, and couple it with cost-volume-based multi-view inference to directly predict clean 3D Gaussians. Experiments show that DelowlightSplat significantly outperforms previous feed-forward method and two-stage pipeline under lowlight conditions.

Rethinking Low-Light Image Enhancement: A Log-Domain Intensity--Chromaticity Decoupling Perspective

Explicit reconstruction constraints derived from the decoupled representation are further imposed to suppress abnormal channel amplification and chromatic noise. Experiments on LOLv2-Real, MIT-Adobe FiveK, and LSRW show that the proposed method achieves competitive or superior quantitative and visual performance, reaching 29.71 dB PSNR and 0.89 SSIM on LOLv2-Real. DarkFace experiments further indicate improved downstream face detection under low-light conditions. Code and pretrained models are available at: https://github.com/mubaisam/ICD.
