Abstract

We present InsertFuse, a unified framework for multi-category reference-guided image insertion. Its key idea is to decouple category-specific expertise learning from cross-category capability consolidation. InsertFuse first trains specialized experts for different insertion categories and then introduces Insertion On-Policy Distillation (IOPD) to consolidate their capabilities into a single student. By querying the matched expert at states visited by the student, IOPD preserves category-specific insertion behavior while mitigating the cross-category interference caused by direct joint training. To improve spatial control, we propose Token-Aligned Geometry Conditioning (TAGC), which maps mask-derived geometric cues to the visual token grid, and Region-Balanced Flow Matching, which separately normalizes prediction errors inside and outside the insertion region to prevent background-dominated and scale-dependent supervision. We further introduce Reference CFG to isolate and strengthen the guidance induced by the visual reference under fixed scene and geometry conditions, with IOPD transferring this enhanced supervision into the unified student. Extensive experiments on the public AnyInsertion benchmark and our multi-category test set demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on most metrics, showing strong reference fidelity and generation quality across diverse insertion categories.

Smart-Insertion-V: Photorealistic Video Insertion via a Closed-Loop Feedback Dual-Stream Framework

Mask-free video object insertion has emerged as a challenging task, requiring harmonious integration of reference objects into source videos. However, existing methods struggle when references exhibit severe stylistic domain gaps with the source scene. To overcome this, we propose \textit{\textbf{Smart-Insertion-V}}, an end-to-end \textbf{Dual-Stream} framework that concurrently conducts video insertion and image style transfer. Within this framework, the image stream synchronously guides the video generation process, while a \textbf{Closed-loop Feedback} mechanism is further incorporated to ensure robust insertion. Inevitably, integrating these diverse conditioning signals results in feature entanglement and style leakage. To tackle this issue, we design \textbf{Dual-World-View RoPE} to distinguish different signals via spatial-temporal offsets without incurring heavy training overhead. Furthermore, to facilitate spatial grounding and stylistic adaptation, we introduce a \textbf{Decoupled Guidance Module} that leverages a Vision-Language Model for semantic reasoning while preserving original temporal guidance with native text encoder. To bridge data gap for harmonious reference insertion task, we propose a data curation pipeline and will release an \textbf{open-source dataset}. Experiments demonstrate that our method can insert objects into plausible positions while achieving the most harmonious results.

Direct 3D-Aware Object Insertion via Decomposed Visual Proxies

Object insertion aims to seamlessly composite a reference object into a specified region of a background image. Recent diffusion-based methods achieve high visual quality but formulate insertion as a simple 2D inpainting task, providing no explicit control over the object's 3D pose and limiting their practical applicability. We propose DIRECT (Decomposed Injection for Reference Composition and Target-integration), a novel framework that integrates interactive pose manipulation with high-fidelity 2D image synthesis to enable pose-controllable object insertion. Our method decomposes the insertion conditions into three complementary components: appearance guidance capturing visual details from the reference object, geometry guidance derived from the user-adjusted 3D proxy, and context guidance from the target background. By injecting them through separate pathways, DIRECT avoids feature entanglement and simultaneously preserves reference appearance, follows the user-specified pose, and adapts the object to the target scene. We also introduce an automated data construction pipeline to improve the diversity and quality of training data. Experiments show that DIRECT outperforms previous methods in both geometric controllability and visual quality.

InsertAnywhere: Geometrically Grounded and Optics-Aware Video Object Insertion

Recent advances in diffusion models have enabled impressive video editing capabilities, yet production-grade Video Object Insertion (VOI) remains challenging due to inadequate 4D scene understanding and a lack of proper optical interactions, such as shadows and reflections. To address these limitations, we present InsertAnywhere, a comprehensive VOI framework that achieves geometrically grounded object placement and optics-aware video synthesis. Our approach first leverages a 4D-aware mask generation module that allows users to anchor an object's 3D pose in a single frame. The framework automatically propagates this placement across the video, accurately handling local scene dynamics and occlusions. To synthesize realistic physical lighting interactions, we introduce Optics-Aware Representation Alignment, a novel strategy that utilizes an extended mask to guide feature extraction, enabling optical effects to seamlessly extend beyond the inserted object's boundary. Finally, to overcome the lack of training data for such phenomena, we construct and open-source ROSE++, a specialized quadruplet dataset tailored for the supervised learning of optical effects. Extensive experiments demonstrate that InsertAnywhere produces geometrically plausible and photometrically realistic insertions in complex real-world scenarios, significantly outperforming existing research and commercial generative tools.
