Abstract
3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) enables photorealistic real-time novel view synthesis, yet placing a virtual camera to capture a desired frame remains largely manual. Existing language-guided approaches in 3D scenes mainly focus on object-centric grounding, determining what to observe but rarely controlling how it should appear in a single frame, such as subject orientation or frame layout. To address this limitation, we introduce a new task, Text-Instructed Viewpoint Grounding (TIVG), which aims to identify a 6-DoF camera pose in a 3D Gaussian scene whose rendered frame aligns with a text instruction. To solve this task, we propose CapFrame, a partially differentiable framework that converts language into geometric pseudo labels for camera pose optimization. CapFrame follows a Retrieve-Translate-Refine pipeline: it retrieves relevant views and ranks them through a Question-Evaluation process with MLLMs, translates the instruction into orientation and layout pseudo labels, and refines the camera pose via differentiable optimization with layout and orientation losses in 3DGS. Experiments on 38 real-world scenes with 135 instructions indicate that CapFrame produces viewpoints better aligned with texts than heuristic viewpoint search and adapted trajectory generation baselines, validated by VLM metrics, MLLM judges, and user studies. Challenges remain in ego-centric 3D scene generation due to limited view overlap and the dominant influence of individual perspectives on scene interpretation. These factors hinder the creation of viewpoint-consistent and semantically aligned visual content, as well as the construction of accurate geometric structures. In this paper, we propose CGGS, a text-to-3D framework aiming to enhance 3D-content-awareness and address geometric distortions in ego-centric scene generation. Firstly, the Ego-centric Generator is proposed by fine-tuning a Multi-View Latent Diffusion Model with consistency-augmented loss to generate consistent, high-fidelity 2D content aligned with textual descriptions. Then, Layout Decorator leverages optical flow and point-track correspondence to estimate depth, therefore producing dense point clouds as coarse layouts from the ego-centric 2D priors. Building on this initialization, Geometric Refiner is proposed to enhance 3D Gaussian reconstruction via an entropy-based Mutual Information Depth Loss (MID) combined with a hierarchical optimization scheme for improving visual quality and geometric structure. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that CGGS outperforms previous methods in generating coherent and accurate text-driven 3D scenes. Project page: https://cggs-26.github.io/cggs26/.
We introduce SPFSplatV2, an efficient feed-forward framework for 3D Gaussian splatting from sparse multi-view images, requiring no ground-truth poses during training or inference. The framework employs a shared feature extraction backbone to jointly predict 3D Gaussian primitives and camera poses in a canonical space from unposed inputs. To enable efficient and accurate pose estimation, we introduce a masked attention mechanism for target-view pose prediction and a reprojection loss that enforces pixel-aligned Gaussian primitives, providing stronger geometric constraints. We further demonstrate the compatibility of our training framework with different reconstruction architectures, resulting in two model variants. Remarkably, despite the absence of pose supervision, our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in both in-domain and out-of-domain novel view synthesis, even under extreme viewpoint changes and limited image overlap. It also surpasses many methods that rely on geometric supervision in relative pose estimation. By eliminating dependence on ground-truth poses, our method offers the scalability to leverage larger and more diverse datasets. Code and pretrained models will be available on our project page: https://ranrhuang.github.io/spfsplatv2/.
Single-image feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) aims to directly generate a renderable 3D scene representation from one input image, avoiding the cost of multi-view capture and per-scene optimization. However, existing methods are often constrained by a pixel-aligned representation, where Gaussians are predicted from fixed image-grid locations. Such pixel-aligned primitives can produce promising nearby-view renderings, but they remain weakly coupled to underlying scene surfaces and struggle to preserve coherent structures under large viewpoint shifts. We present InfiniSplat, a feed-forward single-image 3DGS framework that moves from a pixel-aligned representation toward a surface-aligned representation. InfiniSplat constructs this representation by first using geometry-guided sampling to place 2D supports according to depth-induced local surface structure, and then applying a query-conditioned implicit decoder to predict Gaussian attributes from the image features queried at these supports. By grounding support locations in geometry while decoupling Gaussian prediction from fixed pixel centers, InfiniSplat produces Gaussian layouts that better follow scene surfaces and reduce scattered primitives caused by grid discretization. Across multiple cross-dataset NVS evaluations, InfiniSplat achieves state-of-the-art performance compared with single-image feed-forward baselines, and demonstrates zero-shot generalization from Hypersim indoor synthetic training to complex open-world scenes.
