Alignment-Free Text-Audiobox for Voice Dubbing and Full-Duplex Dialogue Synthesis

Abstract

We present Alignment-Free Text-Audiobox (Text-AB), a unified framework for high-quality voice dubbing and full-duplex dialogue synthesis. Building on a Diffusion Transformer trained with a flow-matching objective, Text-AB departs from the Audiobox system along three dimensions. First, it operates in a latent diffusion framework using DAC-VAE features that encode 48 kHz waveforms into a 25 Hz latent sequence, giving over 10x higher compression than previous EnCodec representations while improving resynthesis quality. Second, Text-AB is alignment-free: it consumes raw text via an off-the-shelf text encoder and learns text-speech alignment through cross-attention, removing the need for forced alignment and explicit duration prediction. Third, we scale model and data substantially, pretraining a 3B-parameter model on 480k hours of monolingual speech, followed by supervised fine-tuning on three downstream tasks: cross-lingual voice dubbing, full-duplex dialogue synthesis, and emotional full-duplex dialogue synthesis. At inference, Text-AB supports one-shot generation for up to ~1 min of speech and arbitrarily long-form generation via a multi-diffusion scheme, plus a multi-stage reranking strategy that enhances quality based on automated metrics. On a real-world dubbing benchmark, Text-AB delivers a step-change improvement over the latest internal dubbing system, with large gains in prosody similarity, voice similarity, naturalness, and shareability. For full-duplex dialogue synthesis, it approaches human recordings on short-form conversations and substantially outperforms the latest internal model on long-form human-likeness and expressivity, while natively modeling turn-taking, back-channeling, and emotional dynamics. For emotional dialogue synthesis, emotion conditioning significantly improves emotion alignment and emotional interaction quality over the unconditioned baseline.

SyncVoice: Simple and Effective Automatic Video Dubbing with Vision-Augmented TTS

Automatic video dubbing aims to generate high-fidelity speech that is temporally aligned with visual content. However, existing methods still suffer from limited speech naturalness, insufficient audio-visual synchronization, and poor scalability beyond monolingual settings. To address these challenges, we propose SyncVoice, a simple and effective dubbing framework that lightly integrates a Text-Visual Fusion Module into a pretrained text-to-speech (TTS) system. This module aligns visual features with linguistic representations, enabling temporally synchronized speech synthesis without complex architectural redesign. Experiments on the LRS3 dataset show that SyncVoice achieves state-of-the-art performance in zero-shot dubbing. Further training on a large-scale bilingual audio-visual dataset improves vocal fidelity while preserving synchronization, yielding a single unified model for both Chinese and English dubbing.

TASTE2: Text-Aligned Speech Modeling and Deployment toward Full-Duplex Voice Interaction

Full-duplex voice interaction requires more than utterance-level conversion. It must process streaming speech, manage turn-taking and interruptions, while preserving pretrained linguistic competence and acoustic paralinguistic cues. We ask whether TASTE (Text-Aligned Speech Tokenization and Embedding) provides a viable path toward this goal. We present TASTE2, which transforms utterance-level TASTE into an incremental dialogue stack. A shared text-token vocabulary removes word-level averaging, while modality-aligned dialogue training predicts one continuous audio latent per text token without interleaving heterogeneous token streams. An incremental Speech Detokenizer enables streaming synthesis through CosyVoice2. After speech and dialogue training, TASTE2 (Merge) reaches 56.3% on LLaMA-Questions against a 57.3% Qwen2.5-7B Instruct text-only reference (98.2% accuracy retention), and TASTE2 (Direct) reaches 53.0% (92.4% retention). We build TASTE2 VoiceBot, which processes user speech incrementally, streams synthesized audio, and stops generation on barge-in. On Full-Duplex-Bench v1.0, TASTE2 and TASTE2 VoiceBot handle interruptions well while maintaining high conversational coherence. Natural conversation remains challenging, and deployed mean time to first audio is 2.701 s on two NVIDIA RTX A6000 after TensorRT acceleration. Finally, to our knowledge, we provide the first systematic characterization of explicit paralinguistic control in a TASTE based model. Fast speaking rate serves as a cross-strategy proof of concept after dialogue SFT, while emotion control is strategy dependent and the remaining attributes stay weak. Together, these results establish TASTE based modeling as a practical route toward full-duplex systems while identifying natural conversation robustness, speech generation latency, and feature general paralinguistic control as open challenges. DuplexDrama: A Synthesized Dialogue Dataset with Scenarios, Full-Duplex Behaviors, Expressive Speech, and Sound Events

We present DuplexDrama, the first synthesized spoken dialogue dataset that simultaneously covers four dimensions: (i) complete persona and scenario settings; (ii) three full-duplex behaviors (interruption, backchannel, incomplete); (iii) expressive speech with persona-aligned emotion labels; and (iv) script-aware sound events. DuplexDrama is built via a 4-stage pipeline; quality validation on both scripts and synthesized audio confirms its quality. We have produced more than 2,000 hours audio data with a 64-voice timbre pool spanning 13 personas and 5 age buckets; 3.8% of all turns carry at least one full-duplex behavior. This data has been validated through internal full-duplex model training. We will release a curated subset of 6,400 bilingual dialogues (800 h, Chinese ~500 h + English ~300 h) to advance full-duplex spoken dialogue model research. Data samples are available at our demo page and LLM-judge evaluation prompts will be released with the dataset.
