Abstract

Temporal knowledge graph embedding (TKGE) models infer missing facts in knowledge graphs that evolve over time. Many existing models use a single geometric space, which can limit their ability to represent diverse relational patterns, or treat entity representations as static. We propose Biquaternionic Space with Complex-valued Attention (BSCA), a TKGE model that combines circular and hyperbolic rotations within a unified biquaternionic framework. A complex-valued attention mechanism adaptively fuses time-conditioned and relation-conditioned entity representations, allowing them to vary with temporal and relational context. Experiments on five benchmark datasets show competitive performance across datasets, with the largest improvement on GDELT: BSCA achieves an MRR of 52.1%, compared with 38.1% for the strongest baseline in our comparison.

TeRoR: Decoupled Temporal Rotation with Relational Circular Region for Temporal Knowledge Graph Embedding

In recent years, with the emergence of Temporal Knowledge Graphs (TKGs), research on learning entity and relation representations in TKGs has attracted increasing attention, giving rise to a large number of TKG embedding methods. TeRo is a simple and efficient temporal knowledge graph embedding approach. However, TeRo does not do well in modeling the mapping properties of various relations, such as one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many. Meanwhile, it also has limitations in the expression of temporal information. To address these issues, we propose a novel TKG embedding method named TeRoR. This method divides the temporal evolution of entity embeddings, and conducts independent rotation transformations on head and tail entities in the complex vector space to strengthen temporal information modeling capacity. In terms of relational characteristics, we train a radius to constrain the rotated and translated head entities within a circular region centered on the tail entity, which effectively captures the diverse mapping properties of relations. Experimental results demonstrate that TeRoR achieves competitive performance against state-of-the-art models on four distinct TKG datasets.

Temporal-Aware Heterogeneous Graph Reasoning with Multi-View Fusion for Temporal Question Answering

Question Answering over Temporal Knowledge Graphs (TKGQA) has attracted growing interest for handling time-sensitive queries. However, existing methods still struggle with: 1) weak incorporation of temporal constraints in question representation, causing biased reasoning; 2) limited ability to perform explicit multi-hop reasoning; and 3) suboptimal fusion of language and graph representations. We propose a novel framework with temporal-aware question encoding, multi-hop graph reasoning, and multi-view heterogeneous information fusion. Specifically, our approach introduces: 1) a constraint-aware question representation that combines semantic cues from language models with temporal entity dynamics; 2) a temporal-aware graph neural network for explicit multi-hop reasoning via time-aware message passing; and 3) a multi-view attention mechanism for more effective fusion of question context and temporal graph knowledge. Experiments on multiple TKGQA benchmarks demonstrate consistent improvements over multiple baselines.

AdaTKG: Adaptive Memory for Temporal Knowledge Graph Reasoning

Temporal knowledge graphs (TKGs) represent time-stamped relational facts and support a wide range of reasoning tasks over evolving events. However, existing methods produce entity representations that are static at the entity level, in that each representation is a function of learned parameters only and retains no trace of the interactions in which the entity has participated. In this paper, we depart from this static view and propose that each entity be modeled as an adaptive process whose representation is refined every time the entity participates in a fact. To this end, we propose AdaTKG, which maintains a per-entity memory that is updated with every observed interaction, with the memory accumulating online and predictions improving as more interactions arrive. Specifically, we instantiate the memory update as a learnable exponential moving average governed by a single shared scalar instead of using learnable parameters for each entity, enabling AdaTKG to handle entities unseen during training. Extensive experiments confirm consistent gains over TKG baselines, demonstrating the effectiveness of adaptive memory. Code is available at: https://github.com/seunghan96/AdaTKG
