Abstract

We present MeshQuery, a training-free agentic approach to automatic UV unwrapping of production-grade quad meshes. A Vision-Language Model (VLM) plans artist-aligned seams using a set of edge-selection tools, conditioned on domain-specific UV-unwrapping knowledge expressed in natural language and refined with a feedback loop. We design a queryable mesh representation together with a domain-specific language (DSL) that enables the agent to retrieve mesh information on demand, express a seam plan as a compact program of edge-selection operators over topological, geometric, and semantic mesh attributes, and iteratively refine it from UV quality feedback. On Adobe Substance 3D and Toys4K meshes, MeshQuery produces 2.9x/4.29x fewer charts and 1.63x/1.7x shorter seams than the strongest baseline, and professional artists prefer its results in 80.9% of comparisons. Ultimately, decoupling high-level intent planning from low-level edge selection and compact mesh representation lets MeshQuery run on different backend VLMs and scale to meshes an order of magnitude larger than autoregressive seam prediction

DreamUV: Unwrap Artist-like UV by End-to-End Flow Matching

UV parameterization is a fundamental step in 3D content creation, yet producing production-ready UV layouts remains challenging due to the gap between geometric distortion objectives and the stylistic preferences of professional artists. While classical methods optimize handcrafted energy functions, artist-authored UVs exhibit structural patterns such as straightened seams, axis-aligned islands, and flexible interior deformation, properties that are difficult to explicitly formulate. In this work, we present DreamUV, an end-to-end learning framework that formulates UV unwrapping as a generative Flow Matching problem. Rather than predicting a single optimal parameterization, DreamUV learns a mesh-conditioned transport process that maps noise samples to a distribution of artist-like UV layouts. To reflect real-world authoring practices, we introduce a boundary-aware training strategy that prioritizes seam geometry, and a Model-in-the-Loop Finetuning(MITL) scheme that explicitly accounts for discretization errors during sampling and stabilizes transport dynamics under heterogeneous supervision. We evaluate DreamUV on a large-scale dataset of professionally authored UV layouts. Experiments demonstrate that our method produces significantly straighter boundaries and tighter axis-aligned islands than both classical and learning-based baselines, while maintaining competitive distortion metrics. Qualitative results and a user study with professional artists further confirm that DreamUV generates UV layouts that are not only valid, but aligned with practical production requirements.

MeshTailor: Cutting Seams via Generative Mesh Traversal

We present MeshTailor, the first mesh-native generative framework for synthesizing edge-aligned seams on 3D surfaces. Unlike prior optimization-based or extrinsic learning-based methods, MeshTailor operates directly on the mesh graph, eliminating projection artifacts and fragile snapping heuristics. We introduce ChainingSeams, a hierarchical serialization of the seam graph that orders chains from global structural cuts down to local details in a coarse-to-fine manner, and a dual-stream encoder that fuses topological and geometric context. Leveraging this hierarchical representation and dual-stream vertex embeddings, our MeshTailor Transformer utilizes an autoregressive pointer layer to trace seams vertex-by-vertex within local neighborhoods. Extensive evaluations show that MeshTailor produces more coherent and structurally regular seam layouts compared to recent optimization-based and learning-based baselines.

SeamFlow: Structure-Aware Flow Matching on Edge Probabilities for Artist-Like UV Unwrapping

3D surface cutting and UV unwrapping are fundamental problems in computer graphics. Traditional geometric optimization methods mainly focus on reducing parameterization distortion, but they often overlook visual semantic coherence in seam layouts. Recent autoregressive generative methods improve semantic coherence, yet limited perception of mesh topology often causes inaccurate local cuts. To address these limitations, we introduce SeamFlow, a novel generative framework for 3D surface cutting. We reformulate the discrete mesh-cutting problem as continuous flow matching in a high-dimensional edge-probability space. Through continuous relaxation, SeamFlow learns a deterministic mapping from a Gaussian prior to a target seam-probability distribution. An evolution network couples local topological tokens with global shape priors and guides smooth probability flow through Ordinary Differential Equation solving. Compared with existing autoregressive generative frameworks, SeamFlow improves topology awareness through edge tokenization while eliminating both 3D spatial projection errors and artificial sequential-order bias. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SeamFlow achieves exceptional semantic coherence and remarkably low parameterization distortion. The project page is https://meshy-dev.github.io/seamflow.
