Abstract

We present DistScene, a framework for single-image compositional 3D scene generation by jointly modeling the environment and individual objects. Unlike existing methods that represent scenes primarily as collections of objects, we model the environment as an explicit scene component to provide geometric context for object placement. Specifically, we introduce Scene-Frame Generation, which jointly generates separate environment and object components in a shared coordinate frame, allowing their geometry and relative placement to be learned together. Then we introduce Object-Centric Refinement to refine each object in a local frame with scene context. Finally, we develop Object-to-Scene Distillation to transfer pretrained object-generation priors to scene generation through automatically composed and rendered synthetic scenes. Evaluations on indoor and outdoor benchmarks demonstrate improved scene-level spatial coherence over the evaluated baselines. Project page: https://coolbeam.github.io/DistScene/

SynCity 3000: Bootstrapping Scene-Scale 3D Diffusion

We present SynCity 3000, a framework for generating 3D scenes that are globally coherent while enabling fine-grained layout control. Building on the ability of current image-to-3D generators to produce complex 3D assets from a single image, we extend this capability to the scale of entire scenes by adapting the generator to be applicable as a convolutional operator. We achieve this by fine-tuning the model on scene-like data generated by a new synthetic data engine, which we propose to address the scarcity of 3D scene data for training. The convolutional generator is then applied to a dimetric image of the entire scene, generated from the user prompt, resulting in 3D scenes of arbitrary size and complexity. Across diverse prompts and layouts, SynCity 3000 produces large, coherent, and detailed scenes, addressing the shortcomings of prior approaches to 3D scene generation.

WorldSculpt: Generating Compositional Worlds from Grounded Videos

We study the problem of generating a compositional 3D representation of a cluttered scene containing hundreds of objects. The goal is to represent the scene as a collection of individual object meshes placed in a shared world frame, as required by downstream applications such as gaming, AR/VR, simulation, and robotics. This task is challenging in densely cluttered scenes, where objects heavily occlude one another and each view reveals only a fraction of their geometry. Geometry-based approaches typically reconstruct the scene as a single representation and leave incomplete geometry in occluded regions, while existing compositional methods with generative priors are largely limited to relatively simple scenes. We show that complex scenes with hundreds of objects can instead be generated compositionally by adapting a strong single-object 3D generative prior to multi-view observations. We instantiate this paradigm with Pixal3D, extending it with a multi-view conditioning pathway that grounds object generation in multiple posed observations. Although the model is finetuned entirely on single objects in canonical space, it generalizes to large scenes with severe occlusion without any scene-level training, demonstrating the feasibility and scalability of this paradigm. We further introduce UE-MeshyScene, a photorealistic benchmark of densely cluttered scenes with hundreds of objects, per-object annotations, and ground-truth meshes. Across single-object, controlled multi-object, and UE-MeshyScene evaluations, our method consistently outperforms prior approaches, with larger gains as scene complexity and occlusion increase. Finally, we demonstrate broader applicability by converting generated 3DGS worlds, such as Marble and HY-World 2.0, into compositional mesh scenes.

Mira-Scene: Pixel-Aligned Layouts for Generative 3D Scene Reconstruction

Single-image 3D object generation can now produce high-fidelity assets, yet accurately placing them into a coherent scene layout remains an open challenge. A central difficulty lies in how object layout is represented. Holistic methods absorb placement into a scene-level generation process, sacrificing object-level detail. Compositional methods preserve object fidelity by decoupling geometry from layout, but typically parameterize layout as sparse, unbounded pose variables that are difficult to learn and generalize poorly under scarce scene-level supervision. We present Mira-Scene, a compositional 3D scene reconstruction framework that replaces sparse pose regression with dense, bounded correspondence recovery. At its core is the Canonical Coordinate Map (CCM), a pixel-aligned field that maps each visible object pixel to a surface coordinate in the object's bounded canonical space. When paired with a scene-space Point Cloud Map (PCM) from monocular geometry estimation, CCM induces dense canonical-to-scene correspondences from which object transformations are recovered through robust geometric alignment. Because CCM operates in bounded canonical space, it provides a stable prediction target that can be trained from scalable object-level 3D data without requiring scene-level layout annotations. Mira-Scene further introduces a multimodal diffusion transformer that jointly generates object geometry and CCMs, using modality-specific expert streams with shared attention and positional encoding to promote geometry-layout consistency. Experiments on indoor, outdoor, synthetic, and in-the-wild scenes show that Mira-Scene substantially outperforms strong baselines in layout accuracy, achieving relative gains of 39.8% in 3D-IoU and 16.5% in 2D-IoU over SAM3D, using limited open-source training data.
