Abstract

World-action models jointly predict actions and future world states, but long-horizon manipulation further requires language reasoning to plan subtask objectives, assess execution progress, and guide action selection. We present LAW, a closed-loop VLM--WAM framework that unifies language reasoning, action generation, and world modeling through semantic subtask progress. Within the LAW agent, a hybrid-expert vision-language model plans the remaining subtasks, estimates the values of and fuses actions proposed by a world-action model, and asynchronously assesses execution status to support continued execution and subtask transitions. Within the world-action model, Mixture-of-Transformer Experts integrates modality-specific and shared computation for joint video--action modeling. Dual-stream hierarchical visual memory maintains temporal context for both models, while subtask-local value learning aligns action evaluation with semantic objectives and preserves supervision from successful prefixes of failed trajectories. LAW achieves 94.21% average success across 50 RoboTwin tasks. Replacing the WAM backbone with OpenWAM-alphaalpha further raises the average success rate to 95.56%, establishing a new open-source state of the art on RoboTwin. Despite having only 2B parameters, our VLM also outperforms variants using Embodied-R1.5 and GPT-5.5 High. On three long-horizon real-robot tasks, LAW achieves 65% average success, compared with 28.33% for pi0.5pi_{0.5} and 25% for Fast-WAM.

World-Language-Action Model for Unified World Modeling, Language Reasoning, and Action Synthesis

We propose world-language-action (WLA) models as a new class of embodied foundation models. WLA takes textual instructions, images, and robot states as inputs to jointly predict textual subtasks, subgoal images, and robot actions, conjoining the world modeling interface to learn from extensive egocentric videos as in the world-action model (WAM) and the language reasoning capacities to solve complex long-horizon tasks as in vision-language-action (VLA) models. At the core of WLA lies an autoregressive (AR) Transformer backbone, instead of a bidirectional diffusion Transformer as in WAMs, to predict the next state, comprising the semantic-level textual intention and complementary fine-grained physical dynamics. The physical dynamics are supervised by the world modeling objective based on a dedicated World Expert, and are leveraged to ease the characterization of the state-action correlation for the Action Expert. WLA leverages meta-queries to make the world prediction implicitly impact the action generation so that the former can be disabled during inference. The world prediction can also be activated to enable test-time scaling for improved robot control. Our WLA-0 prototype, with 2B active parameters, achieves 40 ms per inference on an NVIDIA RTX 5090. Evaluations across simulated and real-world environments demonstrate that WLA-0 achieves state-of-the-art multi-task and long-horizon learning abilities, e.g., 92.94% success rate on RoboTwin2.0 Clean and 56.5% success rate on RMBench. WLA-0 also holds the promise to learn novel tasks directly from cross-embodiment robot videos without action annotations.

World-Value-Action Model: Implicit Planning for Vision-Language-Action Systems

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have emerged as a promising paradigm for building embodied agents that ground perception and language into action. However, most existing approaches rely on direct action prediction, lacking the ability to reason over long-horizon trajectories and evaluate their consequences, which limits performance in complex decision-making tasks. In this work, we introduce World-Value-Action (WAV) model, a unified framework that enables implicit planning in VLA systems. Rather than performing explicit trajectory optimization, WAV model learn a structured latent representation of future trajectories conditioned on visual observations and language instructions. A learned world model predicts future states, while a trajectory value function evaluates their long-horizon utility. Action generation is then formulated as inference in this latent space, where the model progressively concentrates probability mass on high-value and dynamically feasible trajectories. We provide a theoretical perspective showing that planning directly in action space suffers from an exponential decay in the probability of feasible trajectories as the horizon increases. In contrast, latent-space inference reshapes the search distribution toward feasible regions, enabling efficient long-horizon decision making. Extensive simulations and real-world experiments demonstrate that the WAV model consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving significant improvements in task success rate, generalization ability, and robustness, especially in long-horizon and compositional scenarios. WAVE-0: Bridging VLA Policies and WAMs with Lightweight Latent Future Prediction

Vision-language-action (VLA) policies excel at generalist robotic manipulation but generate actions without explicitly modeling their environmental consequences. World action models (WAMs) incorporate future prediction, yet most rely on costly video generation, while latent alternatives either use predicted futures only as auxiliary targets or infer latent actions from suboptimal visual transitions through costly large-scale video pretraining. We introduce WAVE-0 (World-model-Augmented VLA Execution), a framework that bridges VLAs and WAMs through a lightweight latent world model. By connecting the semantic understanding of pretrained VLAs with explicit future prediction, WAVE-0 allows anticipated action consequences to directly guide action generation. Built on a pretrained VLA, its 257M world model translates VLM-generated latent action plans into predicted future representations that condition the action expert, unifying latent planning, future prediction, and action generation. The world model is trained directly on ground-truth robot actions with a counterfactual ranking objective, requiring neither pixel reconstruction nor large-scale video pretraining. WAVE-0 achieves success rates of 91.47% on RoboTwin 2.0 and 98.7% on LIBERO, along with 88.0%, 61.4%, and 75.0% on LIBERO-Plus, LIBERO-Pro, and LIBERO-Para, respectively. On real-world tasks, it improves the success rate of π0.5π_{0.5} from 38.3% to 73.3%. These results demonstrate strong manipulation performance and generalization across diverse distribution shifts.
