Antimicrobial Peptide
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are naturally occurring molecules with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, offering a potential solution to the growing problem of antibiotic resistance. Current research heavily utilizes artificial intelligence, employing deep learning models like transformers and recurrent neural networks, often within multi-objective optimization frameworks to design AMPs with enhanced activity and reduced toxicity. These efforts focus on improving prediction accuracy of AMP activity and identifying optimal peptide sequences through both generative and discriminative approaches, leveraging diverse data representations including amino acid sequences and molecular graphs. This work holds significant promise for accelerating the discovery and development of novel AMPs as effective therapeutics.
