Aortic Calcification
Aortic calcification, a marker of cardiovascular disease (CVD), is increasingly studied to improve early detection and risk assessment. Current research focuses on developing automated image analysis techniques, primarily employing deep learning models like convolutional neural networks, to quantify calcification from various imaging modalities (e.g., CTAs, DXA scans). These advancements aim to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnosis, enabling earlier interventions and potentially reducing CVD-related morbidity and mortality. Furthermore, research is exploring the diverse phenotypes of vascular calcification to better understand its relationship with cardiovascular risk.
