Cobb Angle
The Cobb angle is a crucial measurement in scoliosis diagnosis, quantifying the degree of spinal curvature from X-ray images. Current research heavily focuses on automating Cobb angle measurement using deep learning techniques, including various neural network architectures for spine segmentation, landmark detection, and direct angle regression, aiming to improve accuracy and reduce inter-observer variability inherent in manual methods. These automated approaches offer the potential for faster, more reliable scoliosis assessment, reducing reliance on time-consuming manual processes and potentially mitigating radiation exposure associated with frequent X-rays. Furthermore, exploration of alternative, radiation-free data sources, such as gait analysis, is underway to further enhance patient care.
