Community Health Worker
Community health workers (CHWs) are frontline healthcare providers, particularly crucial in resource-limited settings, aiming to improve access and quality of care. Current research emphasizes optimizing CHW deployment and effectiveness through technological advancements, including AI-powered mobile applications for streamlined case management and multilingual large language models to overcome language barriers and improve medical knowledge access. These efforts focus on improving efficiency, resource allocation, and ultimately, patient outcomes, particularly in managing chronic conditions like diabetes, by leveraging optimization algorithms and personalized interventions. This work holds significant potential for addressing global healthcare workforce shortages and improving health equity in low- and middle-income countries.
