EHR QA (Electronic Health Record Question Answering) focuses on developing systems that can accurately answer questions posed in natural language using information contained within electronic health records. Current research emphasizes improving the accuracy and robustness of these systems, particularly addressing challenges like handling unanswerable questions and complex medical terminology, often employing encoder-decoder architectures and techniques like input masking to enhance performance on datasets such as MIMIC-III. The ultimate goal is to improve clinical decision-making, streamline workflows, and enhance patient care by providing clinicians and patients with rapid access to relevant information within EHRs.
