Eligibility Criterion

Eligibility criteria, the rules determining qualification for services or programs, are increasingly being automated using natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Current research focuses on applying large language models (LLMs) and transformer-based architectures to interpret complex, often inconsistently formatted, eligibility criteria across diverse domains, such as legal aid, clinical trials, and financial regulation. This automation aims to improve efficiency, reduce human error, and enhance access to services by streamlining the eligibility determination process, with promising results demonstrated in several applications.
