French Clinical

Research in French clinical natural language processing (NLP) focuses on overcoming the scarcity of annotated French medical data to improve information extraction and classification tasks. Current efforts leverage transformer-based models, including adaptations of BERT and CamemBERT, along with techniques like cross-lingual projection and mixture-of-experts architectures, to enhance performance on tasks such as named entity recognition, ICD-10 code association, and clinical text classification. These advancements are crucial for enabling efficient processing of French electronic health records, facilitating improved patient care, research, and the development of AI-driven clinical tools.
