Ghanaian Musical Scale
Research on Ghanaian musical scales investigates the evolution and structure of these scales, examining the interplay between melodic and harmonic influences and their adaptation over time. Current studies employ computational methods, such as Gaussian mixture modeling and analysis of fundamental frequencies (F0), to analyze musical recordings and quantify the shift towards equal temperament in contemporary Ghanaian popular music. This work contributes to a broader understanding of musical evolution across cultures, highlighting the impact of technological advancements and cultural exchange on musical practices and potentially informing the preservation of traditional musical forms.
