Grammaticality Illusion
Grammaticality illusions describe instances where humans judge grammatically incorrect sentences as acceptable, revealing biases in our language processing. Current research investigates these illusions using both behavioral experiments and large language models (LLMs), focusing on whether LLMs replicate human susceptibility to these illusions and how different types of illusions (syntactic vs. semantic) affect both humans and LLMs. These studies highlight the limitations of LLMs as cognitive models and offer insights into the complex interplay between syntax, semantics, and human intuition in language comprehension, potentially informing the development of more robust and human-like AI systems.
