Head Related Transfer Function

Head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) describe how an individual's head and ears shape the sound they hear, crucial for creating realistic virtual auditory experiences. Current research focuses on improving HRTF estimation and personalization using various techniques, including deep neural networks (like convolutional and temporal convolutional networks), neural fields, and optimization algorithms applied to improve both accuracy and efficiency of measurement and modeling. These advancements are driving progress in virtual and augmented reality, teleconferencing, and assistive hearing technologies by enabling more accurate and personalized spatial audio rendering.
