Hematoxylin and Eosin
Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining is a fundamental technique in histopathology, providing readily available images for diagnostic purposes. Current research focuses on leveraging these images for automated analysis using deep learning models, such as U-Nets, ResNets, and transformers, to predict molecular alterations, classify cancer subtypes, and quantify features like mitotic figures and collagen content, often surpassing the performance of traditional IHC methods in specific applications. This work holds significant promise for improving diagnostic accuracy, expediting treatment decisions, and reducing the reliance on more expensive and time-consuming techniques.
