Infrastructure LiDAR
Infrastructure LiDAR involves deploying LiDAR sensors on roadside infrastructure to enhance perception and understanding of traffic scenes. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of object detection using these systems, including developing robust calibration methods for coordinating multiple LiDAR units and optimizing sensor placement strategies through simulation. This work addresses challenges in data annotation and real-time processing, often employing adapted versions of PointPillars and other 3D object detection architectures, and aims to improve traffic management, autonomous driving safety, and overall transportation efficiency.
