Intraoral Image
Intraoral imaging focuses on capturing images of the oral cavity for diagnostic purposes, primarily aiding in dental care. Current research emphasizes developing automated analysis methods, employing deep learning models like diffusion models and open-set object detectors, to improve the detection of dental anomalies (e.g., caries, bone defects) and reconstruct 3D models from 2D images. These advancements aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy, potentially reducing reliance on more expensive or invasive techniques like CBCT scans, and improving remote patient monitoring. Rigorous statistical validation of these algorithms is crucial to ensure their clinical reliability and integration into dental practice.
