Lateral Flow

Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are rapid, low-cost diagnostic tools used for various applications, from disease detection (e.g., COVID-19, malaria) to pregnancy testing. Current research focuses on automating LFA result interpretation using computer vision and machine learning, particularly leveraging foundation vision-language models to analyze images of the tests and improve accuracy and accessibility. This automation aims to enhance efficiency, reduce human error, and enable wider access to diagnostic information, particularly in resource-limited settings, while also improving manufacturing processes through automated reagent dispensing.
