Pathogen Detection
Pathogen detection research focuses on rapidly and accurately identifying disease-causing agents, crucial for public health and personalized medicine. Current efforts leverage deep learning, particularly transformer-based models, to analyze genomic sequences and network traffic, enabling the detection of known and novel pathogens with improved sensitivity and scalability compared to traditional methods. This work is significantly impacting diagnostics by facilitating faster identification of outbreaks, enabling more effective treatment strategies, and improving our understanding of pathogen evolution and transmission, particularly for zoonotic diseases and cyber threats.
