Photonic Decision
Photonic decision-making leverages the unique properties of light to accelerate decision-making processes, particularly within the framework of reinforcement learning. Current research focuses on adapting algorithms like multi-armed bandits and Q-learning to photonic architectures, often employing parallel processing and chaotic laser systems to enhance speed and efficiency. This approach shows promise in tackling large-scale problems, such as those encountered in artificial intelligence, by offering potentially faster and more energy-efficient solutions compared to purely digital methods, particularly in low-power/latency regimes. The ultimate goal is to develop practical photonic accelerators for complex decision-making tasks.
