Populist Stance
Populism, a challenging concept to define and measure, is increasingly studied using computational methods to analyze political rhetoric. Current research employs machine learning techniques, including transformer-based models and convolutional neural networks, to automatically classify populist language in speeches and manifestos, analyzing both textual content and nonverbal cues like facial expressions. These advancements offer more efficient and potentially more objective assessments of populist stances, improving the understanding of its prevalence and impact on political discourse and potentially informing political science research and public policy.
