Prosthetic Arm
Prosthetic arm research focuses on developing more intuitive and accessible control systems for amputees. Current efforts concentrate on improving control algorithms, including those using machine learning models like deep neural networks to interpret brain signals (EEG) or high-frame-rate ultrasound imaging of muscle activity, aiming to replace less reliable surface electromyography (sEMG). These advancements aim to create more natural and effective prosthetic arm control, improving functionality and quality of life for users, while also reducing costs and invasiveness of existing technologies.
