Quadcopter Tethered System
Tethered quadcopter systems aim to extend the flight time of drones by supplying power through a connected tether, overcoming the limitations of onboard batteries. Current research focuses on developing accurate models of tether dynamics, such as catenary curves, and algorithms for estimating tether tension and drone position using sensor data and motor thrust. This technology is being explored for multi-drone configurations to optimize power distribution and enhance capabilities in challenging environments, demonstrating potential for improved efficiency and performance in applications like search and rescue or infrastructure inspection.
