Tethered Drone
Tethered drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) connected to a ground station via a tether, address limitations of battery-powered drones by providing continuous power and a direct data link. Current research focuses on overcoming challenges like multi-drone path planning to prevent cable entanglement, often employing topological braid theory and graph search algorithms for efficient, safe trajectory generation. These advancements enhance the capabilities of drones for extended surveillance, precise localization, and improved human-robot interaction, impacting fields ranging from infrastructure inspection to assistive technologies.
