Question Reformulation

Question reformulation focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of question answering systems by rewriting user queries into more effective forms. Current research emphasizes aligning reformulation models with various retrieval systems (both keyword-based and semantic) and leveraging contextual information from retrieved documents or prior dialogue turns to address issues like ambiguity, ellipsis, and coreference. This work is significant for enhancing the performance of conversational search, voice assistants, and other applications requiring natural language understanding, ultimately leading to improved user experience and more efficient information retrieval.
