Self Diagnosis

Self-diagnosis, the process of individuals assessing their own health conditions, is increasingly being explored using artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs). Current research focuses on evaluating the accuracy and limitations of LLMs in this context, including analyzing their susceptibility to biased or incorrect patient-provided information and investigating the incorporation of other data modalities, such as facial micro-expressions, for improved diagnostic capabilities. These studies highlight the need for robust methods to mitigate the risks of inaccurate self-diagnosis while acknowledging the potential for AI to assist in early detection of conditions like depression. The ultimate goal is to develop reliable and safe AI-assisted tools that can supplement, but not replace, professional medical advice.
