Snapshot Spectral Imaging

Snapshot spectral imaging aims to capture both spatial and spectral information of a scene simultaneously using a single exposure, offering advantages in speed and compactness over traditional methods. Current research focuses on improving image reconstruction algorithms, particularly addressing challenges like demosaicking (recovering full spectral and spatial resolution from the compressed sensor data) and developing compact optical designs, such as those employing diffraction-based techniques. These advancements are driving applications in diverse fields, including face anti-spoofing (improving security in facial recognition systems) and surgical imaging (enhancing intraoperative decision-making through real-time tissue characterization).
