Transportation Equity
Transportation equity research focuses on understanding and addressing disparities in access to and quality of transportation systems, aiming to ensure fair and just mobility for all. Current research employs machine learning techniques, including novel applications of large language models and other AI tools, to analyze infrastructure quality, identify inequities, and even participate in participatory planning processes for improved transportation systems. This work highlights the critical link between infrastructure quality, environmental justice, and socioeconomic disparities, informing the development of data-driven strategies for more equitable urban design. Ultimately, these advancements aim to improve the lives of marginalized communities and promote more sustainable and inclusive transportation networks.
