Participatory Urban Planning
Participatory urban planning aims to integrate citizen input into urban development decisions, traditionally a time-consuming and expert-driven process. Current research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence, particularly large language models and generative AI, to create more efficient and inclusive planning processes, often employing multi-agent systems to simulate diverse stakeholder interactions and generate optimized land-use plans. This approach promises to improve the speed, accessibility, and overall effectiveness of urban planning by incorporating diverse perspectives and optimizing for factors like green space, transportation, and community needs.
