Underwater Gesture Recognition
Underwater gesture recognition (UGR) focuses on enabling seamless communication between human divers and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) through hand gestures. Current research emphasizes improving the accuracy and robustness of UGR systems, particularly addressing challenges like zero-shot learning (recognizing unseen gestures) and incorporating explainable AI (XAI) techniques for better model interpretability. These advancements are crucial for enhancing human-robot collaboration in underwater exploration and maintenance, leading to safer and more efficient subsea operations. Prominent approaches utilize deep learning models, including transformers and generative adversarial networks, coupled with computer vision techniques for gesture detection and localization.
