Abstract

Text-to-image models have rapidly advanced in realism and controllability, with recent approaches leveraging long, detailed captions to support fine-grained generation. However, a fundamental parametric gap remains: existing models rely on descriptive language, whereas professional workflows require precise numeric control over object location, size, and color. In this work, we introduce BBQ, a large-scale text-to-image model that directly conditions on numeric bounding boxes and RGB triplets within a unified structured-text framework. We obtain precise spatial and chromatic control by training on captions enriched with parametric annotations, without architectural modifications or inference-time optimization. This also enables intuitive user interfaces such as object dragging and color pickers, replacing ambiguous iterative prompting with precise, familiar controls. Across comprehensive evaluations, BBQ achieves strong box alignment and improves RGB color fidelity over state-of-the-art baselines. More broadly, our results support a new paradigm in which user intent is translated into an intermediate structured language, consumed by a flow-based transformer acting as a renderer and naturally accommodating numeric parameters.

NumColor: Precise Numeric Color Control in Text-to-Image Generation

Text-to-image diffusion models excel at generating images from natural language descriptions, yet fail to interpret numerical colors such as hex codes (#FF5733) and RGB values (rgb(255,87,51)). This limitation stems from subword tokenization, which fragments color codes into semantically meaningless tokens that text encoders cannot map to coherent color representations. We present NumColor, that enables precise numerical color control across multiple diffusion architectures. NumColor comprises two components: a Color Token Aggregator that detects color specifications regardless of tokenization, and a ColorBook containing 6,707 learnable embeddings that map colors to embedding space of text encoder in perceptually uniform CIE Lab space. We introduce two auxiliary losses, directional alignment and interpolation consistency, to enforce geometric correspondence between Lab and embedding spaces, enabling smooth color interpolation. To train the ColorBook, we construct NumColor-Data, a synthetic dataset of 500K rendered images with unambiguous color-to-pixel correspondence, eliminating the annotation ambiguity inherent in photographic datasets. Although trained solely on FLUX, NumColor transfers zero-shot to SD3, SD3.5, PixArt-α, and PixArt-Σ without model-specific adaptation. NumColor improves numerical color accuracy by 4-9x across five models, while simultaneously improving color harmony scores by 10-30x on GenColorBench benchmark.

Camera Control for Text-to-Image Generation via Learning Viewpoint Tokens

Current text-to-image models struggle to provide precise camera control using natural language alone. In this work, we present a framework for precise camera control with global scene understanding in text-to-image generation by learning parametric camera tokens. We fine-tune image generation models for viewpoint-conditioned text-to-image generation on a curated dataset that combines 3D-rendered images for geometric supervision and photorealistic augmentations for appearance and background diversity. Qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy while preserving image quality and prompt fidelity. Unlike prior methods that overfit to object-specific appearance correlations, our viewpoint tokens learn factorized geometric representations that transfer to unseen object categories. Our work shows that text-vision latent spaces can be endowed with explicit 3D camera structure, offering a pathway toward geometrically-aware prompts for text-to-image generation. NumBench: Diagnosing Counting Failures in Text-to-Image Models

Text-to-image (T2I) models often generate the wrong number of objects, yet existing benchmarks are too small or weakly controlled to explain why. We introduce NumBench, a benchmark of 640{,}000 prompts spanning 1{,}600 categories and counts from 1 to 100. Its factorial design varies object composition, spatial guidance, and appearance conditions while balancing counts and category exposure. We also develop a process model in which requested instances compete for a finite set of resolvable image regions. The model predicts a near-quadratic collision deficit at low occupancy and shows how coordinated placement reduces it. For scalable evaluation, we propose the Confidence-Weighted Numeric Precision Score (\cwnps), which aggregates three calibrated detectors and discounts uncertain proposals. Across five commercial systems, two open models, and two specialized counting methods, performance declines sharply with requested count; all evaluated methods are weak above 50 objects. Count range has the largest measured effect, followed by layout and composition. Grid guidance is strongest among guided layouts, consistent with the coordination prediction, although the analysis does not establish collision as the sole cause. A 14{,}400-image human study supports automated evaluation through count 50, while results on 243 natural-language prompts show transfer beyond NumBench templates.
