Abstract

Generating human motion with precise spatial control is a challenging problem. Existing approaches often require task-specific training or slow optimization, and enforcing hard constraints frequently disrupts motion naturalness. Building on the observation that many animation tasks can be formulated as a linear inverse problem, we introduce ProjFlow, a training-free sampler that achieves zero-shot, exact satisfaction of linear spatial constraints while preserving motion realism. Our key advance is a novel kinematics-aware metric that encodes skeletal topology. This metric allows the sampler to enforce hard constraints by distributing corrections coherently across the entire skeleton, avoiding the unnatural artifacts of naive projection. Furthermore, for sparse inputs, such as filling in long gaps between a few keyframes, we introduce a time-varying formulation using pseudo-observations that fade during sampling. Extensive experiments on representative applications, motion inpainting, and 2D-to-3D lifting, demonstrate that ProjFlow achieves exact constraint satisfaction and matches or improves realism over zero-shot baselines, while remaining competitive with training-based controllers.

MotionSpaceFlow: Representation-Aware Flow Matching in Direct Motion Space

Recent advances in diffusion and flow models have substantially improved text-driven human motion generation. Yet most methods generate in low-dimensional, temporally downsampled latent spaces learned primarily for reconstruction, a bottleneck that can limit generation quality and preclude direct manipulation of individual frames and joints. We introduce MotionSpaceFlow (MSFlow), a representation-aware flow-matching framework that predicts clean motion directly in continuous motion space without a learned encoder or decoder. To account for the anisotropic structure of direct motion representations, we propose representation-aware noise scaling and show how the initial Gaussian source scale governs the covariance of intermediate probability-path marginals. We further introduce a Representation-Aware Multimodal Diffusion Transformer (RA-MMDiT), which jointly updates token-level language and full-resolution motion features through joint attention while adapting temporal information flow to the motion representation: causal attention for incremental features defined by frame-to-frame changes, and bidirectional attention for global features such as absolute joint coordinates. Across different datasets and motion representations, MSFlow achieves state-of-the-art text-to-motion performance. Its global representation variant additionally enables zero-shot, inference-time control over any joint or frame through projection sampling without control-conditioned training, delivering leading motion quality with exact constraint satisfaction.

Constraint-Aware Flow Matching: Decision Aligned End-to-End Training for Constrained Sampling

Deep generative models provide state-of-the-art performance across a wide array of applications, with recent studies showing increasing applicability for science and engineering. Despite a growing corpus of literature focused on the integration of physics-based constraints into the generation process, existing approaches fail to enforce strict constraint satisfaction while maintaining sample quality. In particular, training-free constrained sampling methods, while providing per-sample feasibility guarantees, introduce a fundamental mismatch between the training objective and the constrained sampling procedure, often leading to performance degradation. Identifying this training-sampling misalignment as a central limitation of current constrained generative modeling approaches, this paper proposes Constraint-Aware Flow Matching, a novel end-to-end framework that explicitly incorporates constraint projections into the training objective. By aligning the model's learned dynamics with the constrained sampling process, the proposed method mitigates distributional shift induced by projection-based corrections, enabling high-quality constrained generation. The proposed approach is evaluated on three challenging real-world benchmarks, illustrating the generality and efficacy of the method.

Training-free Controllable Human Motion Generation under Heterogeneous Constraints

Training-free controllable motion generation has attracted growing interest for enabling flexible constraint enforcement without constraint-specific training. However, existing training-free methods require constraints to be continuous objective-based with differentiable losses, while many real-world requirements are criterion-based and provide only discontinuous, sparse, or even black-box feedback. In this paper, we propose Motion-Inference-as-Control (MIC), the first training-free motion generation framework that handles both continuous objective-based and criterion-based motion constraints under a shared mechanism. The key idea is to cast diffusion-based motion generation as a stochastic control problem. This perspective not only provides principled and practically effective step-wise control laws that support criterion-based constraints without requiring differentiability and naturally accommodate objective-based constraints as a special case, but also motivates a control-oriented constraint coordination mechanism that adaptively balances and reconciles motion constraints during generation. Experiments across diverse constraint settings demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework.
