Abstract

Diffusion Transformer (DiT) faces challenges when generating images with higher resolution compared at training resolution, causing especially structural degradation due to attention dilution. Previous approaches attempt to mitigate this by sharpening attention distributions, but fail to preserve fine-grained semantic details and introduce obvious artifacts. In this work, we analyze the characteristics of DiTs and propose TIDE, a training-free text-to-image (T2I) extrapolation method that enables generation with arbitrary resolution and aspect ratio without additional sampling overhead. We identify the core factor for prompt information loss, and introduce a text anchoring mechanism to correct the imbalance between text and image tokens. To further eliminate artifacts, we design a dynamic temperature control mechanism that leverages the pattern of spectral progression in the diffusion process. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that TIDE delivers high-quality resolution extrapolation capability and integrates seamlessly with existing state-of-the-art methods.

SEGA: Spectral-Energy Guided Attention for Resolution Extrapolation in Diffusion Transformers

Diffusion transformers (DiTs) have emerged as a dominant architecture for text-to-image generation, yet their performance drops when generating at resolutions beyond their training range. Existing training-free approaches mitigate this by modifying inference-time attention behavior, often through Rotary Position Embeddings (RoPE) extrapolation combined with attention scaling. However, these strategies apply a uniform and content-agnostic scaling across RoPE components with distinct frequency characteristics, inducing a trade-off between preserving global structure and recovering fine detail. We introduce SEGA, a training-free method that dynamically scales attention across RoPE components according to the latent's spatial-frequency structure at each denoising step. This adaptive scaling improves both structural coherence and fine-detail fidelity. Experiments show that SEGA consistently improves high-resolution synthesis across multiple target resolutions, outperforming state-of-the-art training-free baselines.

HRDiT: Training-Free High-Resolution Image Generation with Off-the-Shelf Diffusion Transformer Models

Training-free text-to-high-resolution image generation has recently attracted growing research attention. However, existing studies on this task primarily focus on adapting off-the-shelf U-Net-based diffusion models to high resolutions, with limited progress on adapting off-the-shelf Diffusion Transformer (DiT) models despite their strong text-to-image generation capabilities at limited resolutions. In this work, we find two key challenges particularly hindering the application of off-the-shelf DiT models for high-resolution image synthesis in a training-free manner, namely, spatial disorder and long generation time. To address these challenges, we propose a novel method tailored to adapt off-the-shelf DiT models for high-resolution image synthesis. Extensive experiments show the efficacy of our method. RAISE: Requirement-Adaptive Evolutionary Refinement for Training-Free Text-to-Image Alignment

Recent text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models achieve remarkable realism, yet faithful prompt-image alignment remains challenging, particularly for complex prompts with multiple objects, relations, and fine-grained attributes. Existing training-free inference-time scaling methods rely on fixed iteration budgets that cannot adapt to prompt difficulty, while reflection-tuned models require carefully curated reflection datasets and extensive joint fine-tuning of diffusion and vision-language models, often overfitting to reflection paths data and lacking transferability across models. We introduce RAISE (Requirement-Adaptive Self-Improving Evolution), a training-free, requirement-driven evolutionary framework for adaptive T2I generation. RAISE formulates image generation as a requirement-driven adaptive scaling process, evolving a population of candidates at inference time through a diverse set of refinement actions-including prompt rewriting, noise resampling, and instructional editing. Each generation is verified against a structured checklist of requirements, enabling the system to dynamically identify unsatisfied items and allocate further computation only where needed. This achieves adaptive test-time scaling that aligns computational effort with semantic query complexity. On GenEval and DrawBench, RAISE attains state-of-the-art alignment (0.94 overall GenEval) while incurring fewer generated samples (reduced by 30-40%) and VLM calls (reduced by 80%) than prior scaling and reflection-tuned baselines, demonstrating efficient, generalizable, and model-agnostic multi-round self-improvement.
