Abstract

Event cameras provide microsecond latency, making them suitable for 6D object pose tracking in fast, dynamic scenes where conventional RGB and depth pipelines suffer from motion blur and large pixel displacements. We introduce EventTrack6D, an event-depth tracking framework that generalizes to novel objects without object-specific training by reconstructing both intensity and depth at arbitrary timestamps between depth frames. Conditioned on the most recent depth measurement, our dual reconstruction recovers dense photometric and geometric cues from sparse event streams. Our EventTrack6D operates at over 120 FPS and maintains temporal consistency under rapid motion. To support training and evaluation, we introduce a comprehensive benchmark suite: a large-scale synthetic dataset for training and two complementary evaluation sets, including real and simulated event datasets. Trained exclusively on synthetic data, EventTrack6D generalizes effectively to real-world scenarios without fine-tuning, maintaining accurate tracking across diverse objects and motion patterns. Our method and datasets validate the effectiveness of event cameras for event-based 6D pose tracking of novel objects. Event-based Motion & Appearance Fusion for 6D Object Pose Tracking

Object pose tracking is a fundamental and essential task for robotics to perform tasks in the home and industrial settings. The most commonly used sensors to do so are RGB-D cameras, which can hit limitations in highly dynamic environments due to motion blur and frame-rate constraints. Event cameras have remarkable features such as high temporal resolution and low latency, which make them a potentially ideal vision sensors for object pose tracking at high speed. Even so, there are still only few works on 6D pose tracking with event cameras. In this work, we take advantage of the high temporal resolution and propose a method that uses both a propagation step fused with a pose correction strategy. Specifically, we use 6D object velocity obtained from event-based optical flow for pose propagation, after which, a template-based local pose correction module is utilized for pose correction. Our learning-free method has comparable performance to the state-of-the-art algorithms, and in some cases out performs them for fast-moving objects. The results indicate the potential for using event cameras in highly-dynamic scenarios where the use of deep network approaches are limited by low update rates.

Keypoint-based Dynamic Object 6-DoF Pose Tracking via Event Camera

Accurate 6-DoF pose estimation of objects is critical for robots to perform precise manipulation tasks. However, for dynamic object pose estimation, conventional camera-based approaches face several major challenges, such as motion blur, sensor noise, and low-light limitation. To address these issues, we employ event cameras, whose high dynamic range and low latency offer a promising solution. Furthermore, we propose a keypoint-based detection and tracking approach for dynamic object pose estimation. Firstly, a keypoint detection network is constructed to extract keypoints from the time surface generated by the event stream. Subsequently, the polarity and spatial coordinates of the events are leveraged, and the event density in the vicinity of each keypoint is utilized to achieve continuous keypoint tracking. Finally, a hash mapping is established between the 2D keypoints and the 3D model keypoints, and the EPnP algorithm is employed to estimate the 6-DoF pose. Experimental results demonstrate that, whether in simulated or real event environments, the proposed method outperforms the event-based state-of-the-art methods in terms of both accuracy and robustness.

RRTrack: Robust and Recoverable Object 6D Pose Tracking for Dynamic Scenes

Robust object 6D pose tracking is critical for robotic systems operating in dynamic and occluded scenes. Per-frame estimators are accurate but computationally expensive, while current trackers struggle with fast motion and complete occlusion due to their reliance on continuous visibility. To address these challenges, we present RRTrack, an efficient, recoverable object 6D pose tracker that enables robust tracking through fast motion and target disappearance--reappearance. RRTrack introduces a 2D--6D closed-loop tracking strategy that integrates memory-based video object segmentation (VOS) with 6D pose refinement. The 2D branch maintains target localization, and the 6D branch verifies geometric consistency before memory updates. In addition, a DINOv2-based dual-bank template matching module is developed to recover lost targets by jointly exploiting offline synthetic templates and online observation anchors while maintaining real-time efficiency. We also introduce a synthetic RGB-D benchmark comprising three robotic scenarios with fast motion and full occlusion. Experimental results on the synthetic benchmark demonstrate that RRTrack improves equal-subset mean ADD-S AR by 66.3% and ADD-S AUC by 65.7% over FoundationPose while achieving 55.2 FPS. Real-world experiments further validate the robustness of RRTrack under noisy sensing conditions. Project page: https://github.com/7kevin24/RRTrack
