Abstract

Synthesizing human motion has advanced rapidly, yet realistic hand motion and bimanual interaction remain underexplored. Whole-body models often miss the fine-grained cues that drive dexterous behavior, finger articulation, contact timing, and inter-hand coordination, and existing resources lack high-fidelity bimanual sequences that capture nuanced finger dynamics and collaboration. To fill this gap, we present HandX, a unified foundation spanning data, annotation, and evaluation. We consolidate and filter existing datasets for quality, and collect a new motion-capture dataset targeting underrepresented bimanual interactions with detailed finger dynamics. For scalable annotation, we introduce a decoupled strategy that extracts representative motion features, e.g., contact events and finger flexion, and then leverages reasoning from large language models to produce fine-grained, semantically rich descriptions aligned with these features. Building on the resulting data and annotations, we benchmark diffusion and autoregressive models with versatile conditioning modes. Experiments demonstrate high-quality dexterous motion generation, supported by our newly proposed hand-focused metrics. We further observe clear scaling trends: larger models trained on larger, higher-quality datasets produce more semantically coherent bimanual motion. Our dataset is released to support future research.

DuetHOI: Language-Guided Bimanual Hand--Object Motion Generation with Articulation Planning and Contact Refinement

Bimanual articulated-object interaction generation requires a model to capture the evolution of object articulation, coordination between the two hands, and fine-grained hand--object contact. Existing methods typically encode object and hand motion as a unified high-dimensional sequence, making it difficult to explicitly accommodate the different scales of manipulation progress, relative bimanual motion, and local hand pose. We propose DuetHOI, a structured framework for bimanual articulated-object interaction generation. DuetHOI first uses ContactVAE to predict contact intent on the object surface from language and object geometry. Conditioned on this spatial intent, ArtPlanner provides a trajectory-level articulation reference, and DualFormer generates the global interaction using object states, object-centered hand positions, and compact hand-pose tokens learned by ManiVAE. After global generation, ProxiRefine fixes the object trajectory and residually corrects the two hands using current hand--object proximity, improving local surface alignment. Experiments across articulated and rigid objects and single- and bimanual settings show that DuetHOI outperforms three adapted baselines on most contact and hand--object consistency metrics, with particularly strong results in bimanual articulated interaction generation.

Dex2HOI: Dexterous Bimanual Two-Object Interaction Generation

Recent advances in 4D Human-Object Interaction (HOI) generation have enabled increasingly realistic motion synthesis, particularly for single-object manipulation. Yet current research overlooks an inherent property of human behavior: people naturally coordinate both hands and manipulate multiple objects simultaneously. To address this gap, we present Dex2HOI, a unified diffusion model for single- and two-object HOI synthesis from text. At its core, Dex2HOI employs a Dual-Stream Diffusion approach, where each object is processed in a dedicated interaction stream and coordinated through bidirectional cross-attention. To synthesize the final motion, we introduce a Motion Fusion Network integrated with novel hand-relative object representations and contact-aware conditioning applied across the whole sequence. By sampling the diffusion process autoregressively over prefix-conditioned windows, Dex2HOI generates arbitrarily long sequences at real-time speed omitting redundant test-time optimization, achieving up to x540 inference speed-up over prior state-of-the-art methods. Extensive evaluation on both single- and two-object benchmarks demonstrates state-of-the-art quantitative results, marking a step beyond conventional single-object HOI generation and toward expressive multi-object manipulation. Inter-X++: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Multimodal Human-Human Interaction Analysis

The capability to perceive and synthesize human-human interactions is fundamental to developing intelligent digital human systems. However, existing datasets and modeling approaches are fundamentally constrained by low-fidelity kinematics, the omission of dexterous hand gestures and a severe lack of rich multimodal annotations. Furthermore, fragmented interaction representations and inconsistent evaluation protocols also impede fair and rigorous benchmarking. To systematically address these bottlenecks, we present Inter-X++, a comprehensive and large-scale benchmark designed to empower versatile HHI analysis. Captured via a novel hybrid motion capture system, Inter-X++ provides 11,388 high-fidelity interaction sequences and over 8.1M frames, featuring precise whole-body movements and detailed finger articulations. Meanwhile, we enrich the data foundation with multifaceted annotations, including hierarchical fine-grained textual descriptions, interaction categories, causal interaction orders, the relationship and personality of the subjects, as well as vertex-level contact maps and physically regularized constraints. Leveraging these elaborate annotations, we formulate a unified testing ground comprising four categories of downstream tasks that symmetrically span both generative and perceptive paradigms. To eliminate benchmarking ambiguities, we systematically standardize the interaction representations and evaluation protocols. Finally, we go beyond dataset construction to propose OpenHHI, a single and unified HHI representation and modeling framework that jointly optimizes interaction reconstruction and semantic understanding. Extensive experiments reveal that OpenHHI achieves state-of-the-art performance on both generation and perception tasks. This definitively proves that our unified representation successfully bridges interaction understanding and generation simultaneously.
