Abstract

We introduce Full-Duplex-Bench-v3 (FDB-v3), a benchmark for evaluating spoken language models under naturalistic speech conditions and multi-step tool use. Unlike prior work, our dataset consists entirely of real human audio annotated for five disfluency categories, paired with scenarios requiring chained API calls across four task domains. We evaluate six model configurations -- GPT-Realtime, Gemini Live 2.5, Gemini Live 3.1, Grok, Ultravox v0.7, and a traditional Cascaded pipeline (Whisper→\rightarrowGPT-4o→\rightarrowTTS) -- across accuracy, latency, and turn-taking dimensions. GPT-Realtime leads on Pass@1 (0.600) and interruption avoidance (13.5%); Gemini Live 3.1 achieves the fastest latency (4.25s) but the lowest turn-take rate (78.0%); and the Cascaded baseline, despite a perfect turn-take rate, incurs the highest latency (10.12s). Across all systems, self-correction handling and multi-step reasoning under hard scenarios remain the most consistent failure modes.

Full-duplex Spoken Language Modeling with Discrete Diffusion

We introduce Diffuplex, a full-duplex spoken language model based on discrete diffusion that achieves an unprecedented balance between linguistic intelligence and response efficiency. With thinking mode, Diffuplex delivers 13.0 tokens per forward pass, reaching an average of 1872 tokens per second and substantially surpassing the frontier autoregressive (AR) models in decoding speed. Without thinking, Diffuplex matches the first-audio latency of existing full-duplex models while achieving markedly stronger linguistic intelligence. This capability is enabled by separating when to say from what to say at the training level, rather than compressing both into a single autoregressive timeline. During inference, Diffuplex continuously tracks the user speech through an AR interaction policy, while independently generating and refining response content through parallel diffusion. Consequently, semantic computation is no longer bounded by the perception audio frame rate, allowing intelligence and responsiveness to improve simultaneously. Taken together, these results establish a new paradigm for spoken agents that can sustain real-time dialogue while devoting parallel computation to intelligent response generation. Training code and checkpoints will be avaliable soon.

Duplex-MPE: Benchmarking Multi-Party Interaction in Full-Duplex Dialogue

Real-time full-duplex speech models can listen while speaking, enabling natural interaction without rigid turn boundaries. Existing benchmarks evaluate turn-taking, interruption handling and multi-round dialogue, but largely centre on a designated user rather than an assistant participating in a shared conversation among several people. We introduce Duplex-MPE to evaluate when such an assistant should answer, remain silent or stop speaking. The benchmark contains 2,000 scenarios with three or four human speakers and one assistant, each paired across explicit and implicit addressing of the same request. Models receive continuous conversation audio without transcripts or supplied turn boundaries. Four scores measure fresh response initiation, answer accuracy, silence preservation and stopping when a human resolves a request. We evaluate five open-weight speech systems: MiniCPM-o 4.5, Moshi, FLM-Audio, Voila and Freeze-Omni. MiniCPM-o 4.5 leads on three scored capabilities, while frequent speech from other systems can coexist with inaccurate answers or failures to remain silent. A transcript-based Gemini 3.1 Pro reference responds 64.3 percentage points more often to explicit than implicit requests; paired tests detect no significant response-rate difference for the speech systems.

ττ-Voice: Benchmarking Full-Duplex Voice Agents on Real-World Domains

Full-duplex voice agents--systems that listen and speak simultaneously--are rapidly moving from research to production. However, existing evaluations address conversational dynamics and task completion in isolation. We introduce ττ-voice, a benchmark for evaluating voice agents on grounded tasks with real-world complexity: agents must navigate complex multi-turn conversations, adhere to domain policies, and interact with the environment. The framework extends τ2τ^2-bench into a novel voice agent benchmark combining verifiable completion of complex grounded tasks, full-duplex interaction, and realistic audio--enabling direct comparison between voice and text performance. A controllable and realistic voice user simulator provides diverse accents, realistic audio environments, and rich turn-taking dynamics; by decoupling simulation from wall-clock time, the user simulator can use the most capable LLM without real-time constraints. We evaluate task completion (pass@1) and voice interaction quality across 278 tasks: while GPT-5 (reasoning) achieves 85%, voice agents reach only 31--51% under clean conditions and 26--38% under realistic conditions with noise and diverse accents--retaining only 30--45% of text capability; qualitative analysis confirms 79--90% of failures stem from agent behavior, suggesting that observed failures primarily reflect agent behavior under our evaluation setup. ττ-voice provides a reproducible testbed for measuring progress toward voice agents that are natural, conversational, and reliable.
