Abstract

We present Omni, a unified multimodal model natively trained on diverse modalities, including text, images, videos, 3D geometry, and hidden representations. We find that such training enables Context Unrolling, where the model explicitly reasons across multiple modal representations before producing predictions. This process enables the model to aggregate complementary information across heterogeneous modalities, facilitating a more faithful approximation of the shared multimodal knowledge manifold and improving downstream reasoning fidelity. As a result, Omni achieves strong performance on both multimodal generation and understanding benchmarks, while demonstrating advanced multimodal reasoning capabilities, including in-context generation of text, image, video, and 3D geometry.

Uni-LaDiR: Latent Diffusion Unifies Multimodal Reasoning

Multimodal reasoning requires models to draw on information from multiple modalities throughout the reasoning process. Yet existing methods often concatenate modality-specific thought tokens in a single sequence, leaving the model to bridge representational differences as it reasons across modalities. We introduce Uni-LaDiR (Unified Latent Diffusion Reasoner), a framework that brings these thoughts into a shared latent space for reasoning. A unified encoder maps teacher reasoning steps from different modalities into shared thought tokens, trained to preserve the information needed for later reasoning steps and the final answer or action. Because the same context can support multiple valid next steps, we use diffusion to predict the next block of thought tokens from the input and preceding blocks. Jointly training the encoder and diffusion reasoner with shared model weights encourages thought tokens to be both useful for the task and predictable from the available context. At inference, the model generates these tokens without teacher observations. Across eleven vision-language model (VLM) benchmarks and two vision-language-action (VLA) suites, Uni-LaDiR achieves relative gains over the strongest evaluated baselines of 7.3% on visual reasoning tasks and 6.1% on robot manipulation tasks.

Ovis-Embedding: Pushing the Frontiers of Universal Omni-Modal Embeddings

In this report, we introduce \textbf{Ovis-Embedding}, a state-of-the-art omni-modal embedding family built on native integration of text, image, video, and audio. Instead of assembling separate modality towers, Ovis-Embedding uses a shared multimodal backbone to encode different modalities in a common representation space. Specifically, we make \textbf{three key advances}: (1) \textbf{native omni-modal initialization}: we adopt a pretrained Qwen-omni model as the embedding backbone and adapt it through contrastive training with low-rank initialization; (2) \textbf{data-centric omni-modal training}: we construct a broad, high-quality corpus spanning text, images, video, audio, and interleaved multimodal data. To improve data efficiency, we introduce homogeneous-source sampling to form task-consistent batches with informative in-batch negatives; and (3) \textbf{embedding-specific training and inference optimization}: we use focal loss to emphasize hard examples and similarity-based Embedding Distillation to transfer fine-grained similarity structure from complementary experts. At inference time, low-rank feature decomposition enables compact embeddings with flexible dimensionality and minimal performance loss. Empirical evaluations show that the \textbf{Ovis-Embedding} family achieves state-of-the-art performance on \textbf{MMEB-v3}, \textbf{MMEB-v2}, \textbf{MVEB}, \textbf{MAEB}, and \textbf{RTEB}, demonstrating its effectiveness across text, image, video, and audio modalities. These results highlight the potential of unified omni-modal training to overcome modality fragmentation and advance universal embedding models for any-to-any retrieval.

LatentOmni: Rethinking Omni-Modal Understanding via Unified Audio-Visual Latent Reasoning

Joint audio-visual reasoning is essential for omnimodal understanding, yet current multimodal large language models (MLLMs) still struggle when reasoning requires fine-grained evidence from both modalities. A central limitation is that explicit text-based chain-of-thought (CoT) compresses continuous audio-visual signals into discrete tokens, weakening temporal grounding and shifting intermediate reasoning toward language priors. We argue that a unified latent space is a better medium for such reasoning because it preserves dense sensory information while remaining compatible with autoregressive generation. Based on this insight, we propose \textbf{LatentOmni}, a cross-modal reasoning framework that interleaves textual reasoning with audio-visual latent states. LatentOmni introduces feature-level supervision to align latent reasoning states with task-relevant sensory features and uses Omni-Sync Position Embedding (OSPE) to maintain temporal consistency between latent audio and visual states. We further construct \textbf{LatentOmni-Instruct-35K}, a dataset of audio-visual interleaved reasoning trajectories for supervising latent-space reasoning. Comprehensive evaluation across multiple audio-visual reasoning benchmarks demonstrates that LatentOmni achieves the best performance among the evaluated open-source models and consistently outperforms the Explicit Text CoT baseline, supporting latent-space joint reasoning as a promising path toward stronger omnimodal understanding.
