Abstract

We introduce CADFS, a data-centric framework that enables large vision-language models to generate complex CAD design histories. Existing generative CAD systems are restricted to sketch-extrude operations due to simplified representations and limited datasets. We address this by introducing a FeatureScript-based representation and constructing a dataset of 450k real-world CAD models spanning 15 modeling operations. We obtain the dataset via a new pipeline that reconstructs clean, executable FeatureScript programs and provides multimodal annotations. Fine-tuning a VLM on this representation yields state-of-the-art results in text-conditioned CAD generation and image-based reconstruction, producing more accurate, diverse, and feature-rich designs than prior frameworks. Ablations show that each individual component of our framework, i.e., the FeatureScript representation, the extended operation set, and representation-aligned textual descriptions, significantly improves performance. Our framework substantially broadens the complexity and realism achievable in generative CAD. The CADFS framework and the new dataset are available at https://voyleg.github.io/cadfs/.

Zero-to-CAD: Agentic Synthesis of Interpretable CAD Programs at Million-Scale Without Real Data

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models are defined by their construction history: a parametric recipe that encodes design intent. However, existing large-scale 3D datasets predominantly consist of boundary representations (B-Reps) or meshes, stripping away this critical procedural information. To address this scarcity, we introduce Zero-to-CAD, a scalable framework for synthesizing executable CAD construction sequences. We frame synthesis as an agentic search problem: by embedding a large language model (LLM) within a feedback-driven CAD environment, our system iteratively generates, executes, and validates code using tools and documentation lookup to promote geometric validity and operation diversity. This agentic approach enables the synthesis of approximately one million executable, readable, editable CAD sequences, covering a rich vocabulary of operations beyond sketch-and-extrude workflows. We also release a curated subset of 100,000 high-quality models selected for geometric diversity. To demonstrate the dataset's utility, we fine-tune a vision-language model on our synthetic data to reconstruct editable CAD programs from multi-view images, outperforming strong baselines, including GPT-5.2, and effectively bootstrapping sequence generation capabilities without real construction-history training data. Zero-to-CAD bridges the gap between geometric scale and parametric interpretability, offering a vital resource for the next generation of CAD AI.

CADIR: A Cross-Backend Editable Intermediate Representation for Agentic CAD Generation

Large language models have made it possible to generate executable computer-aided design (CAD) programs from natural-language descriptions or images. However, existing methods represent modeling processes as backend-specific sequential scripts with implicit dependencies or as static geometry, making it difficult to simultaneously preserve construction history, stable topological references, and feature-level editability across different CAD systems. We present CADIR, an agent-friendly executable intermediate representation for CAD generation and cross-backend editing. Built on the OCCT geometry kernel via OCP, CADIR provides explicit, compositional modeling operations and fine-grained execution diagnostics. During program execution, CADIR records modeling operations, parameter dependencies, constraints, and topology selections in a construction graph. To enable reliable cross-backend reconstruction, we introduce Geometric Signature Matching, which identifies corresponding edges and faces despite parameter changes and backend differences, allowing adapters to reconstruct native editable feature histories in FreeCAD, SolidWorks, and Fusion 360. Building on this representation, we further propose a construction-graph retrieval method for text and image queries that supports both full-graph and subgraph retrieval, enabling agents to leverage complete models and modeling substructures. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CADIR achieves higher geometric fidelity and execution reliability than existing CAD representations, that construction-graph retrieval further improves model generation quality, and that cross-backend editing enables reliable model reconstruction and post-reconstruction editing across multiple CAD environments.

GuideCAD: A Lightweight Multimodal Framework for 3D CAD Model Generation via Prefix Embedding

Multi-modal approaches used for 3D CAD generation require substantial computational resources, necessitating efficient training. To address this, we propose GuideCAD, which leverages semantically rich visual-textual representations having only a small number of trainable parameters to generate 3D CAD models. Specifically, GuideCAD uses a mapping network that converts image embeddings into prefix embeddings, enabling a pretrained large language model to integrate visual and textual information. As a result, a transformer-based decoder predicts the construction sequence using the visual-textual embeddings in order to generate the 3D CAD model. For experimental evaluation, we construct a new dataset, referred to as GuideCAD, which consists of text-image pairs. Each pair includes a text prompt that represents a 3D CAD construction sequence and its corresponding 3D CAD image. Our experimental results show that GuideCAD generates comparably high-quality 3D CAD models while using approximately four times fewer parameters and achieving twice the training efficiency compared to fine-tuning approaches.
