Abstract

Long-horizon video generation has advanced in visual quality, yet existing methods still struggle to maintain knowledge consistency and coherent pedagogical narratives across multi-shot instructional videos, especially in STEM domains. To address these challenges, we propose EduStory, a unified framework for reliable instructional video generation. EduStory integrates pedagogical state modeling to track persistent knowledge states, script-guided structured control to organize multi-shot narratives, and learning-oriented evaluation metrics to assess knowledge fidelity and constraint satisfaction. To support rigorous evaluation, we further introduce EduVideoBench, a diagnostic benchmark with multi-granularity annotations, including pedagogical storyboards, shot-level semantics, and knowledge state transitions, together with baseline tasks for controllable instructional video generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that domain-aware state modeling and structured control substantially reduce narrative breakdown and improve alignment with instructional intent. These results highlight the significance of domain-specific structural constraints and tailored benchmarks for advancing reliable, controllable, and also trustworthy long-horizon video generation.

From Content Generation to Learning Support: Pedagogy-Guided Generative Video Tutors for STEM Learning

Generative AI enables scalable production of educational videos, but current systems largely focus on producing visually coherent content rather than supporting learning. As a result, generated videos often lack explicit pedagogical structure, reliable quality control, and mechanisms for assessing learner understanding or addressing misconceptions. In this work, we introduce PIVOT (Pedagogy-guided Instructional VideO Tutoring), a generative video tutoring framework for STEM learning via learning-centered instructional support.1 Inspired by conventional teaching workflows, our framework integrates pedagogy into the full generation pipeline: it first uses instructional principles to guide storyboard generation, then produces verified multimodal videos through code-centric generation and a pedagogical verification harness, and finally connects videos with assessment and misconception-aware remediation. Experiments and expert evaluations across four STEM domains show that our framework produces educational videos with pedagogically aligned content, clear and engaging presentation, coherent instructional flow, and perceived effectiveness for learning. These findings suggest a human-centered perspective on educational content generation: generative systems should be evaluated and designed not only by what they produce, but also by how they support teaching practices, learner understanding, and corrective feedback.

Are Video Models Zero-Shot Learners and Reasoners in Education? EduVideoBench, A Knowledge-Skills-Attitude Benchmark for Educational Video Generation

Video generation models (VGMs) are rapidly entering classrooms, yet existing benchmarks evaluate only perceptual quality, intrinsic faithfulness, generic safety, or video as a reasoning medium, and none assesses whether the outputs are educationally valid. In this work, we present EduVideoBench, the first balanced benchmark in the education domain, grounded in the Knowledge-Skills-Attitude (KSA) framework so that pedagogical adequacy and educational safety are evaluated jointly rather than as ad-hoc quality dimensions. Across five frontier VGMs, our results show substantial room for improvement across knowledge, skills, and attitude before they are classroom-ready. We complement this with a qualitative analysis of expert comments, finding that educational validity is multi-component, where a single misaligned element such as pacing, legibility, or notation can invalidate an otherwise correct video. We hope EduVideoBench will guide the development of VGMs that are pedagogically grounded and safe for the classroom.

Closed-Loop Triplet Synergistic Generation for Long-Form Video

Multi-shot long-form video generation remains challenging due to identity drift and compounding inconsistencies across shots. While storyboard-driven pipelines improve controllability, they are often executed in a feed-forward manner, with limited mechanisms to incorporate generated visual evidence back into subsequent conditioning. We propose CoTriSyGen, an agentic framework that formulates multi-shot long video generation as a closed-loop visual-text-memory synergy process, where planned intent, persistent memory, and generated visuals are jointly leveraged for iterative correction and long-range coherence. A vision-language-model-based analyzer reasons over this triplet and produces updates to both prompts and memory along two pathways: (i) intra-shot refinement, which triggers targeted regeneration when semantic or compositional violations are detected and refines image-to-video prompt for coherent motions; and (ii) inter-shot refinement, which rewrites subsequent-shot prompts to propagate newly manifested entities or attributes and improve prompt quality (e.g., compositional grounding and cinematic fluency) based on generated evidence. The loop is grounded in an entity-centric memory modeled as a mutable visual state that evolves as the story progresses, which is continuously updated by both the generator and the analyzer by adding new and evolved entities to reflect appearance changes, accumulated multi-view evidence, and multi-entity compositions. Experiments on our curated StoryBench benchmark demonstrate substantial improvements in cross-shot consistency, prompt adherence, and cinematic continuity over representative methods.
