Abstract

Recent diffusion editors perform diverse instruction-based edits while conditioning on the source image at every denoising step. Yet persistent source-image conditioning can limit how fully an edit is executed and how natural the result appears, especially when the target scene diverges substantially from the input. We introduce DuET (Dual Expert Trajectories), a training-free inference method that temporarily relaxes source-image conditioning by transitioning through a text-to-image phase before returning to edit mode, allowing the denoising trajectory to move toward the target distribution while retaining the structural benefits of image-conditioned editing. Without modifying model weights or increasing sampling cost, DuET consistently improves instruction relevance, semantic fidelity, and perceptual quality across diverse models and benchmarks. In some cases, these gains come with a modest reduction in source-image preservation, revealing a predictable trade-off between source preservation and edit fidelity.

Diffusion Image Editing via Asynchronous Token Decoding

Text-guided diffusion image editing aims to modify semantic attributes of an image while preserving its identity, layout, and background. However, naïvely switching the text condition during sampling often causes global drift, as denoising dynamics propagate changes across tokens and can disrupt unedited regions. To address this issue, we propose \textbf{A}synchronous \textbf{T}oken \textbf{D}ecoding \textbf{Edit} (ATDEdit), an inference-time framework that views each sampler step as a parallel update of a globally coupled token matrix and enables token-indexed condition switching with differentiated update policies. Instead of applying synchronous target-conditioned updates to all tokens, ATDEdit estimates editable locations using token-wise conditional surprisal and applies target-conditioned corrections to the selected token set. It supplies source key/value memory at keep-token positions and projects selected keep-token latent rows back to their source values; these operations promote background preservation but do not constitute a pixel-level invariance guarantee. This approach combines local editing and background preservation without external or user-provided spatial masks and without model fine-tuning. On PIE-Bench, ATDEdit achieves the strongest reported preservation metrics, including 27.44~dB PSNR and 0.055 LPIPS, while retaining competitive semantic alignment.

EditTransfer++: Toward Faithful and Efficient Visual-Prompt-Guided Image Editing

Visual-prompt-guided edit transfer aims to learn image transformations directly from example pairs, offering more precise and controllable editing than purely text-driven approaches. However, existing diffusion transformer-based methods often fail to faithfully reproduce the demonstrated edits due to structural mismatches between the task and the backbone, including a pretrained bias toward textual conditioning and inherent stochastic instability during sampling. To bridge this gap, we present EditTransfer++, a framework that combines progressively structured training with an efficient conditioning scheme to improve both visual prompt faithfulness and inference efficiency. We first mitigate textual dominance with a text-decoupled training strategy that removes text conditioning during fine-tuning, compelling the model to infer transformations solely from visual evidence while still supporting optional text guidance at inference. On top of this visually grounded model, a best-worst contrastive refinement mechanism reshapes the denoising trajectories to suppress unfaithful generations and improve consistency across random seeds. To alleviate the computational bottleneck of high-resolution in-context editing, we further introduce a condition compression and reuse strategy that reduces token redundancy and enables efficient generation of images with a 1024-pixel long edge. Extensive experiments on existing benchmarks and the proposed EditTransfer-Bench show that EditTransfer++ achieves state-of-the-art visual prompt faithfulness with substantially faster inference than prior methods, suggesting a promising direction for scalable prompt-guided image editing and broader visual in-context learning.

SpecEdit: Training-Free Acceleration for Diffusion based Image Editing via Semantic Locking

Diffusion-based image editing offers strong semantic controllability, but remains computationally expensive due to iterative high-resolution denoising over all spatial tokens. Dynamic-resolution sampling reduces this cost by performing early steps at reduced resolution. However, existing approaches prioritize upsampling using low-level heuristics such as edge detection or channel variance, which are weakly aligned with editing semantics and may lead to structural inconsistency. Moreover, spatial regions are often upsampled without verifying whether semantic modification is actually required, resulting in redundant high-resolution computation and accumulated errors. Therefore, we propose SpecEdit, a training-free dynamic-resolution framework tailored for diffusion-based image editing. SpecEdit follows a draft-and-verify scheme: a low-resolution draft first estimates the semantic outcome, after which token-level discrepancies are used to identify edit-relevant tokens for high-resolution denoising, while the remaining tokens stay at a coarse resolution. Experiments on Qwen-Image-Edit and FLUX.1-Kontext-dev demonstrate up to 10x and 7x acceleration, while maintaining strong quality. SpecEdit is complementary to step distillation and other acceleration techniques, achieving up to 13x speedup when combined with existing methods. Our code is in supplementary material and will be released on GitHub.
