Abstract

Many games rely on storytelling combined with systems that track levelling, NPC behaviour, and consequence simulation; bridging tightly-authored narrative with deeply-simulated worlds -- most acute in sandbox and open-world settings -- has been prohibitively expensive. LLM-driven worlds open a new path: a single harness can coordinate numerical state, narrative voice, storytelling pacing, and rule logic together. Realising this requires the LLM system to sustain a persistent world (who is where, what has just happened, what is currently true), which today's deployed systems do not: the narrative voice asserts state in free prose without any validated representation, so a fully autonomous game engine remains infeasible. We treat this as an architectural choice, not a limitation of language models, and report work in progress on a framework -- orchestrated reality -- that makes the world a canonical object owned by a singleton orchestration agent analogous to the tabletop-RPG Game Master (GM). We formalise an LLM-driven game world for a human player as a Parameterized-Action POMDP: state is a tree of canonical JSON entities, actions decompose as a=(k,xk)a=(k, x_k) (a discrete intent kind plus structured JSON parameters), the agent observes only a narrative projection o=O(s)o=O(s) of state, and the transition kernel FF is an LLM-driven Plan-Diff-Validate-Apply (PDVA) pipeline that commits schema-validated, content-hashed JSON deltas. We give the formal model, a JSON-state example, a worked single-turn example, and a catalogue of 15 illustrative incidents drawn from a real deployment showing the framework in action. Empirical validation through a planned human player study -- together with multi-NPC concurrent agency and deployment as an RL environment -- is situated as future work.

Authoring for Living Worlds: Tool-Constrained LLM Agents for Executable Multi-Actor Scenarios

We use LLM agents to author executable specifications for a living world: formal Graphs of Events in Space and Time (GESTs) that a 3D game engine executes deterministically into multi-actor narrative videos, with per-frame spatial, temporal, and semantic ground truth as a byproduct of execution. This inverts the dominant paradigm of LLM agents driving neural video generators, which emit pixels with no semantic guarantees and no annotations. Authoring is the hard problem: the world's capability registry cannot be enumerated in a context window, validity of an action depends on accumulated world state, and a staged refinement pipeline driving GPT-5 through six validated stages produced zero executable specifications in 50 attempts. Our hierarchical Director / Scene Builder architecture instead operates through a constraint-enforcing tool layer, in which exploration tools paginate the registry and building tools validate every operation against simulator state, so every emitted specification is executable by construction. Driving a far smaller model (Claude Haiku 4.5), the system executes 20 of 25 attempts (80%) when seeded with a target narrative text. Because each seed text derives from a source graph, we can measure how faithfully the agent reconstructs specified intent: event-level F1 reaches 0.83 against a 0.55 matched-random floor, and sequential structure 0.77 against 0.43, with the residual gap dominated by information the text itself drops.

Mind-Studio: Executable World Models with Lookahead Evaluation for Partially Observable Games

World-model synthesis aims to turn interaction experience into an internal model of environment dynamics. Existing symbolic approaches often fit observed transitions or mixtures of local rules, but they do not produce a complete executable program that can run independently of the real environment. We present Mind-Studio, a framework that synthesizes executable pygame-style world models from state-action-next-state trajectories using large language models. Mind-Studio combines entropy-selected traces with a lightweight game skill file containing object, action, and static scene information extracted from screenshots. We evaluate synthesis quality with a K-step lookahead fidelity protocol that compares generated world-model rollouts against Real-ALE rollouts from the same state. On Montezuma's Revenge, Mind-Studio improves chosen-action next-state prediction from 0.3% for PoE-World to 48.7% while verifying 5 of 8 subgoals; across Alien, Assault, and Skiing, it achieves stronger branch-level fidelity than prior learned lookahead sources.

Infinite Worlds with Versatile Interactions

We present LingBot-World 2.0 (also known as LingBot-World-Infinity), an advanced iteration of LingBot-World featuring four distinct upgrades. (1) Our model achieves an unbounded interaction horizon while maintaining consistent output quality, benefiting from a carefully crafted causal pretraining paradigm. (2) Through distilling a real-time variant from the base model, our system guarantees rapid response time, sufficient to drive 720p video streams at 60 fps. (3) Compared to the previous version, this update introduces highly diverse interactive elements, comprising a broader spectrum of actions (e.g., attacking, archery, spell-casting, and shooting) alongside a richer variety of text-driven events. (4) We pioneer the integration of an agentic harness within the domain of world modeling, wherein a pilot agent is tasked with planning and executing character behaviors, while a director agent is responsible for synthesizing novel environmental elements as the scene progresses. Additionally, to facilitate a shared experience, we develop an interface that permits multiple players to simultaneously immerse themselves in this vivid world simulator. We pair our primary 14B model with a lightweight 1.3B counterpart, which supports effortless deployment on a single GPU.
