Abstract

Steerability is a defining capability of generalist robot policies, yet remains largely absent in dexterous-hand systems for lack of large-scale, language-aligned, and action-accurate demonstration data. To address this bottleneck, we present a full-stack system that scales dexterous VLA pre-training from egocentric human videos and enables data-efficient real-robot post-training. It integrates EgoSmith, a data pipeline that curates in-the-wild egocentric videos into 9.6K hours of high-quality pre-training data with 9x higher throughput and better accuracy than prior SOTA; a unified robot stack for teleoperation and human-in-the-loop correction; and EgoSteer, a world-model-enhanced VLA trained on optimized infrastructure. Human-data pre-training equips EgoSteer with language-guided manipulation priors, which are grounded through robot post-training and improved by DAgger refinement. Empirically, EgoSteer robustly executes free-form instructions across 40+ diverse tasks, demonstrating failure recovery, dexterity, and generalization. The pre-trained model also few-shot adapts to complex long-horizon tasks, including box folding, on two embodiments with 75+% success. EgoEngine: From Egocentric Human Videos to High-Fidelity Dexterous Robot Demonstrations

Dexterous manipulation is limited by the cost of collecting large-scale robot demonstrations. Egocentric human videos offer a scalable source of diverse manipulation behaviors, but directly using them for robot learning requires bridging two gaps: the visual gap between human and robot observations, and the action gap between human motion and robot-executable action. We propose EgoEngine, a scalable framework for transforming egocentric human manipulation videos into high-fidelity robot data. Given an egocentric RGB video, EgoEngine produces: (i) a high-fidelity robot observation video replacing human with robot while preserving scene context and temporal alignment, and (ii) a task-aligned, executable robot action trajectory under feasibility constraints. Experiments in simulation and on real robots show that EgoEngine enables scalable conversion of human videos into robot data and, to our knowledge, demonstrates the first zero-shot visuomotor dexterous policy learning from egocentric human videos without real-robot demonstrations. SiMDex: Mining Similar Egocentric Videos for Cross-Embodiment Dexterous Manipulation

Recent years have witnessed an explosive trend of scaling ego-centric human videos for robot manipulation, yet it remains unclear which data actually benefits dexterous manipulation. We present SiMDex, a similarity-based data mining framework that casts human data selection for VLA post-training in dexterous manipulation as a recommendation problem. For each robot demonstration, SiMDex employs a three-layer recall-ranking-re-ranking pipeline to extract task-relevant subsets from a pool of ~32M egocentric human samples, operating in a morphology-agnostic action space that requires no changes to VLA architecture or training. Against a strong baseline trained with an equal amount of randomly sampled human data, SiMDex uses only ~1.49M mined samples (<5% of the pool) yet improves the overall success rate from 47.7% to 61.1%, showing that selective curation outperforms indiscriminate data mixing.

Towards High-DoF Dexterous Manipulation through VLA Post-Training

Imitation-learned vision--language--action (VLA) foundation models acquire broad manipulation capabilities by scaling robot data across tasks and embodiments, but reliable deployment on a specific downstream task and hardware platform still requires post-training. Dexterous hands make this adaptation particularly difficult: their broad behavioural repertoire and high degree of freedom create a large and structured action space. Three obstacles are central: open-source VLAs do not natively provide an action interface for high-DoF hands; gesture mismatch during human-gated DAgger takeover creates command discontinuities and contaminates corrective trajectories; and reinforcement learning in the raw joint space is sample-inefficient. We present a unified four-step post-training pipeline comprising a learned temporal hand-action codec, supervised fine-tuning, DAgger, and real-world residual reinforcement learning. The codec adapts a pretrained VLA to absolute dexterous-hand commands. Buffered rollback, pose alignment, and smooth command blending enable continuous, task-relevant DAgger corrections, while latent residual RL confines exploration to coordinated hand motions captured by the codec. We evaluate the pipeline on five diverse real-world tasks spanning bimanual transfer, in-hand reorientation, and tool use. Within the reported post-training budgets, the resulting policies achieve 100% success on every evaluated task over 20 trials per task. These results provide a practical path for adapting VLA foundation models to reliable real-world dexterous manipulation.
